Hi all,
I’ve been a full time sitter for 5 months and I was just checking over my profile settings and saw that under references, which I’ve never bothered with because I thought on-platform reviews were more important (I have 14 reviews, yay!) I saw this red text which I’ve never noticed before saying that I need a reference for my profile to “go live”. What does this actually mean? I’m guessing it doesn’t mean that people can’t see my profile since I’ve been happily applying for sits and getting them for months.
It’s meaningless. I’ve never added external references and have been getting sits for more than 1.5 years. I’ve seen that “warning,” too.
We haven’t got any references either, just 30+ reviews, and our profile has always stayed live. I’ve had a quick check to see what you were talking about and I don’t see what you see, so maybe it’s just certain ones at certain times. Weird though.
The “warning” eventually disappeared on my profile, visible to me, but apparently not hosts. I say that, because I’ve kept getting sits.
For context: THS has gone through various phases of requiring and not requiring references. That warning probably has popped on or off related to that, maybe depending on when you joined.
It’s more important for new sitters to have references. Once you’ve started getting reviews they’re not really necessary
