Let’s celebrate the LAB LOVE
The Labrador Retriever was bred to be both a friendly companion and a useful working dog breed Historically, they earned their keep as fishermen’s helpers: hauling nets, fetching ropes, and retrieving fish from the chilly North Atlantic.
Today’s Lab is as good-natured and hardworking as their ancestors, modern Labs work as assistance dogs and search and rescue dogs, among other canine jobs and they one of the best of all family pet breeds.

One of my favourite breed of dogs. I have a very soft spot for chocolate ones especially. We looked after these two near Salisbury two summers ago. The door between the hall and kitchen was half glazed and they actually bounced to see out of it. Like most labs, they loved food and used to follow me round the kitchen island when I was cooking. They had to be involved in everything. He’s making sure I’m making apple crumble properly.
Here is Toffee who we looked after along with 2 other dogs and 3 cats, one of whom really wanted to be her best friend!
She is also so far the only dog we’ve met who would throw her ball back to you!
Love Labradors!! And have been blessed to look after some beautiful ones over the years plus welcome them into our family.
Am currently looking after Maggie, such a gentle soul, aged 11 and born deaf. This is the second time I’ve looked after her and will be having her company again in March.
