Always missing out on favourited sits!

Is this only happening to me? It seems when I get a notification that new dates have been added to a sit I have favourited by the time I look at it they are always reviewing already?

Are you in a different time zone? You might still be sleeping when the listing goes up and if it’s a popular area that could explain why.

This is another issue since forever with THS, that they just blatantly refuse to do something about. It’s not the different time zone or receiving 5 applications too fast. If you scroll down in your feed, there’ll be always multiple favorited sits, and 20-30 minutes later still not in reviewing, and the notification will be sent exactly when they go into reviewing. It’s been like this for years, despite numerous complaints from users.

Not to mention different sits appear active at different times for different sitters. What is in my feed as an active listing, might appear only an hour later in someone else’s feed.

I don’t see this issue.

As I primarily use the app on my iPhone, I favorite them via the same. I have notifications turned on for the app.

If I tap the notification as soon as it “dings” me, it automatically opens the app & jumps me to the listing, where I quickly apply, pasting in slightly customized application text I have saved elsewhere in anticipation.

I’ve only ever been locked out once — I presume it was when the Host prematurely closed applications by going into “reviewing” mode; in that case I was unable to submit my completed application.

No, I’m in the UK and most of these sit’s I’m talking about are in France, Spain or the UK.

@Whirley, suggest that you reflect on whether this happens with all new listing notifications or only some of them.
The demand-supply balance varies dramatically across listings.
There are many many listings in US, UK and perhaps Canada, Australia.
But currently only a subset of housesitters (US based) may have appetite for US listings.
Listings in Schengen area - such as France, Spain that you mentioned - likely face low supply vs high demand. They go fast. Often very fast.
For some people, time zone differences can make such applications near impossible.
Weblink below gives data on listings by geography. Bit stale, and probably now higher percentage in US given low demand, but probably materially right.

If you reflect that this happens on all new listings then suggest check your notification settings; experiment with notification method (we use iOS rather than email notifications). If still problematic then logout/login of THS app. If still probematic then consider uninstall & reinstall iOS app.

Well for reference I am in Australia. Two notifications came in during the night, Brussels and Paris. Both reviewing when I looked at 6am. However the night before I got a ping for Switzerland and have applied. Looking at other Swiss sits there were still a few open and same when I check other Schengen areas. All depends on the sit.

Same! And I thought it was just me.

Can’t be a time zone thing since I check in the middle of the night here (ET) when I can’t sleep

Yes I’ve had this issue before. I get notified far too late. They should set it up so it’s instant… Maybe that would be a good use of the money from all the new charges.
