Bad reviews not being published?

On a pet sit we are doing in the summer, I noticed that the owner had not done a review for her previous sitter and asked why.

She said she had done a review, she didn’t know why it hadn’t showed up.

Was it because the sitter didn’t do a review so the owner’s review wasn’t published?

She said it was a dreadful sit. They left the house in a complete mess, the dog never got taken out. Many nightmare tales….

It’s a shame that other owners are not being warned about this family…

Sometimes HOs or sitters leave a review on Trustpilot.

Earlier, it was very easy for that to happen. I think it was design that THS led people to do that.

The sitter would have had to provide evidence that something in the review was either false or against THS T&C’s to get it removed

Ok thank you. I just feel bad for some unsuspecting owner who’s going to give this family an assignment…

@Lozza Hi and welcome back.

When you click on the sitter’s picture does it open up to the sitter profile? And can you read other home host reviews of the sitter?

If the sitter profile doesn’t load then they may not be members anymore.

I’d avoid these owners. They might be lying.

@Lozza be careful with that one. If they left a review and it isn’t there then maybe it has been removed due to being false.

It’s not the case that it doesn’t show if they didn’t get a review in return.

We avoid owners who complain about previous sitters like that. It’s very rare that things go dramatically wrong with sitters on trusted as one bad review can tank you. Potentially they will say the same about you when you leave.

I say this from experience.

@Enjaybee
Exactly. That was the reason for what I wrote too.

It may be due to the time difference of where the HO’s are based vs THS corporate. I had a submitted review not post. There are 14 days to post, I waited until the 14th day @ 8p and it didn’t post. Why? THS support explained posts are based on London / GMT time and I was in PST; I tried to post 4 hours too late.

Thank you for replying. Yes when I clicked on the sitter, I could read briefly about him and his family. There was one good review. That was the only one.
He hadn’t left a review for the owner we are going to and she hadn’t left a review for him. When I asked her, she initially said that she didn’t know how the reviews worked, then she hesitated before telling us how dreadful they were.
We accepted the assignment on the phone interview, we asked if we could have a loan of a car whilst we are there, for which we would pay the insurance of course, and she has agreed…
now that we have accepted the sit, if I go back to the listing I can’t find any details of previous sitters (at the time I could look, there was only one, the bad family…)
