I have tried to do this but my post isn’t showing – is this not something we can do?
The hosts have to post the sits themselves.
She isn’t able to access the forum for some reason so I wanted to help her out. Looks like my post was delisted within minutes. I feel bad for her.
To clarify: She has a listing for the sit, she just can’t access the forum.
Anyone can create a forum account. The forum is separate from THS, so she’d have to create a forum account. If she has one and it’s not working, she could ask forum moderators for help (or you could ask for her if she can’t get on). Or she could just create a new forum account. But you can’t post her sit for her, last minute or otherwise. That’s probably why your post was deleted.
Thanks for your replies. Anything I can tell her about how to create a forum account? It apparently isn’t obvious.
If she hops on her THS dashboard on the app or website and clicks on “Community Forum,” she should get step-by-step directions.
I did point her there earlier. It seems like it should be so obvious, doesn’t it? But for some reason it’s giving her trouble. Anyway, thanks for your responses. I hope she gets it sorted.
If she googles “Trusted Housesitters Forum” she will see it that way too. She needs to create a SEPARATE login - username and password - for the Forum. It is not the same login as her THS account.
Hi @teddypdx
Just to confirm that as @Maggie8K mentioned, only the HO whose listing it is can post in Last Minute Sits, so the team weren’t able to approve your post. Normally we’d drop you a message in that situation just to explain why we couldn’t approve the post.
Huge thanks to @Maggie8K and @PVGemini for giving some pointers to get the HO set up with a Forum account.
If there’s anything specific that’s causing them issues getting a Forum account set up, we’d be happy to look into that.
Jenny
Thanks, Jenny. The HO did eventually figure it out, only have a disinterested third party post a nasty response to her listing. I have a feeling she won’t be visiting the forum in the future.
In fairness the response I saw to the last minute sit post was simply factual. Your friend couldn’t find a sitter and those were her blockers. If hosts want a sitter who has to meet a whole load of additional criteria in order to come and do an unpaid sit then they are unlikely to find someone. And it’s a last minute request! If your friend could have flexed on hours to explore/diet restrictions/covid jabs & the rest of the list she would stand a better chance of finding someone. THS only works if both parties get something from the exchange and the benefits on that sit were hard to see. #toughbuttrue
I had to change my password to get it to work.
She wasn’t my friend, just someone I was trying to help out. I don’t see the point of someone who isn’t interested in a given sit coming on here to tell everyone else why they should disdain it. Just move on, let others decide for themselves.
