Hi all, there have been times when I wanted to reach out for support during or after a sit and I didn’t feel comfortable doing so because I knew I couldn’t post anonymously. Is there a way to do that here on the forum?
I now wish I had created a more discrete profile name, but since I was originally advised to put a link to my TH profile here in my forum profile I assumed it wouldn’t be anonymous anyway. That was when I was first starting out and was eager to be “seen” more. Now, however, I wish I could have more privacy here on the forum in order to discuss openly any difficulties I encounter related to sits.
Yes, anyone can join the forum, members and non members, I would have thought you could just use a different email address and register as a new user.
I’m not sure why someone advised you to put your link, but you can simply remove your link. There are lots of us that don’t have our details on here.
Originally, when I first joined THS I thought putting my link on the forum may have meant I came into contact with owners who wanted us to sit for them, but then within the first month of joining I realised it wasn’t that difficult to get sits anyway, so it doesn’t have that benefit, so I continued to keep things anonymous. Apart from those that have reached out directly on here, that’s totally different.
Hi @Pangolin I can see @Silversitters and @HappyDeb have already given you some great advice. As they both mentioned, you can remove your link from your Forum profile. Please just let me know if you need any help with this.
I’ve sometimes private messaged a few people here for a more discrete chat. Even then a few have told me they delete the private messages after we’ve concluded our chat as they’re not entirely private from moderators. This lack of privacy surprised me to be honest.
I don’t think you can delete private messages (archiving is the only option) and yes, they are not really private. Any discussion about other petsitting sites, referrals etc should not be discussed there.
