I recently logged into Trusted House Sitters (THS) to grab my profile link, intending to share it as I’ve done in the past. However, I noticed the usual steps—and even the automated chat directions—didn’t work. When I reached out to a THS representative, they informed me that we can no longer access our profile link independently; instead, we now have to contact support to get our link.
While I understand I can save the link now and likely it one change however, I’m curious about this change. Why would THS make it more challenging for members to access something as basic as their own profile link?
If you go on the website and search for a sitter in the location currently listed in your profile, you can click on your own and see the URL. If you are somewhere with a large number of sitters, that might be a bit more challenging, even when you filter out people without member reviews.
My most recent location change was to somewhere with a smaller number of sitters, so finding my own profile was easy.
One thing I have noticed is when I update my profile and then search for sitters in my listed location, it is usually right at the beginning. So that might be a trick to try if you are ever using a location with a lot of sitters listed, like London or NYC.
I do find it odd that they would not make this information available…I would be curious about the reasoning behind that.
You don’t have to search for yourself if you have the app. You can still copy your profile link from the profile preview there. At least on the Android version you can.
On the desktop, you can also go to your profile preview, click a HO’s review to go to their page, and then click your own review of them to return to your (now real) page. You’ll be at the unique link for your profile.
@meow
Good info. I don’t like to use the app as much so I don’t think I have ever really used it to do anything with my profile.
I never knew about the other way to access it on the website. I always would update and view my profile from the "Dashboard’ section, not the ‘Your Profile’ section, and that ‘preview’ showed the actual URL.
Thanks @meow, I wanted to give someone the link to my profile a little while ago and thought I had gone mad when I couldn’t find it. As my location is “London” there were hundreds of profiles to scroll through - so that process wasn’t really an option.
Sadly, this would seem to be yet another pointless tweak or fix to correct a problem or issue that wasn’t there in the first place grrr.
Thanks for your feedback on this - we can pass it to the team - and I also wanted to share this handy guide from @Maeve which details how members can share their link:
On the app: Click on Me. Click on View and edit profile. Click on the icon on the upper right w/the up arrow to send or share. Decide where you want to send or share your profile and it will send or share your profile link.
On the website: Go to your inbox and find correspondence with one of your past home hosts. Click to open their listing. Find your review of them. Click on your review and it will open your profile. Copy and paste the URL/your profile link.
Go to Find a Sitter and search for yourself. Once you’ve found your profile, copy and paste your profile link.
Hope this helps, and a huge thanks to @Maeve for sharing this useful information
Hey @KC1102! Thanks for the pro top on finding my profile through the sitter search feature, I never would have even thought of this hack, so thank you. I also share the sentiment that I am curious why the change to make accessing our profile more challenging to get access to.
Thanks @meow for your wisdom regarding getting my profile from the app… I have never actually gotten my profile in this way, so thanks! That makes it so much easier!
I guess a concern and challenge for me is when I reached out to get support through chat to my question, none of these were even offered to me as a solution. That is why I turned to the community forum. Instead the response was, only a THS rep can get access to my profile link now.
In case useful to other folks: At the outset with THS, I got my profile URL and put it on a shortcut key on my mobile devices. That way, I can easily share the link if needed.
