Cancellation policy

Hello
Anyone had the unfortunate cancellation from a sitter, like 3rd day of 14 day sit? I upgraded to premium during the sit as there were already some red flags and I’m now super concerned who will care for my pet in such a short notice.
thanks a lot!!!

Regardless of the plan you are on I suggest you call the 24hr emergency number on your dashboard immediately. Advise them of the situation and keep copies of all messages from the sitter. Good Luck

Who is you Plan B ? THS won’t arrange for alternative sitter . If this sit is covered by the Premium Plan - you will need to arrange for alternative care of the pets , keep receipts and submit them . as @Twitcher has suggested talk to the Urgent Support Phone line for advice as it’s a current and urgent situation.

What reason did they give to cancel?
But especially, did you organize a Plan B?

Thanks so much all for the various responses.

I’m actually going to go with a pricey boarding service. There is no way I can trust the current sitter getting the house ready for a different sitter, or have enough time to get professional cleaners without having the pup stranded and also don’t have time to wait for someone else to apply from THS (they recommended I post a new sit).

I chatted with various THS help service members via email and chat and they are all giving me different answers regarding coverage for the cancellation plan. It seems their policy is not worth having as they are changing the rule as they feel (I.e. need the plan before the sit starts VS need the plan during the sit VS need the plan before the cancellation, so who knows…)

It’s my first time using this platform for house and pet sit. I am definitely not reassured by the overall process and the safety of my pet (and house as well) despite the written profile, phone conversation with sitter or security background.

The reason is the puppy is needing puppy care (potty breaks, supervised play time, quiet time to sleep away from noise, some outdoor mini walks) which is not feasible given the sitter chronic illness

Sorry for you, it sounds like a nightmare.

This must have been known before the sit had been confirmed or are you saying the sitter has got ill after the arrangement has been confirmed. As others have said both sitters and HOs need plans B in place from the outset as sometimes things can happen outside everyone’s control.

Sorry reading more, I’m deleting my previous comments.

Chronic illnesses don’t happen overnight, they must have known it might happen.

Sorry, wrote a comment but then read more of the thread, so now not sure what to think.

It is really unfortunate that you’re finding yourself in this position. I’m glad you found a solution, albeit an expensive one.

It’s naive of the sitter to not realize how time consuming and energy draining taking care of a puppy is. Given her health issues, why did she even apply to such a sit? Go figure :woman_shrugging:t2:

Of course we discussed those standard puppy things (potty breaks, treats, ongoing training) in the context of the sitter chronic syndrome. I was reassured it would be ok by the sitter!
As one of you mentioned, it is a puppy and would need puppy care (which was also disclosed and well advertised!)
So in brief, I learned a lot through this experience and may not use this system in the future. THS support has not been very helpful thus far and the sitter should probably not accept any future sit until their health gets better.
And my puppy is now much more happy. I feel reassured :crossed_fingers:
