Communication

I applied to a house sit request almost a week ago. It still shows that my message has not been read.

Is there a way to gently remind them to open their inbox? I’ve been approach by someone else for similar dates and I don’t want to accept until I know the status of this one.

Just be brutal (like they are!): withdraw your application. They will get a notification. It might kick them into action.

They snoozed, they loosed

Just carry on with the other sit, hopefully that will work out for you.

Think of it this way - they posted a sit and havent bothered to read your application for a week. What would they be like to communicate with during the sit?? Too much hard work.

Sometimes if a person reads a message on the app, it still shows as unread to the sender. Nevertheless, (unless there were extenuating circumstances) they were rude not to acknowledge your application by now. If you really want this sit and there is nothing comparable available, you could send another message asking if they are still looking. Maybe they had an emergency that distracted them. This happened me recently where the HO said her father had died, which is why she didn’t reply sooner.

Most sitters apply for multiple attractive sits at the same time, and take the one that is offered first.

Hello @Lassie I am just sharing this previous update as this was an old bug and should now be fixed! I hope that helps

What the others said. Do you like the sound of the other sit? Take it. Unless the first one is one you really really really want over the second.

Also if YOU snooze you might lose, on the one you’ve been offered.

… I don’t know how to withdraw an application…?

Since you have established communication with the Owner with your initial application, you are able to go back into your Inbox and send another message to them.

Even if the one you are waiting for is “better” it probably won’t happen. If you wait too long the one you were offered won’t happen.

Oh, OK. I thought there was a button to click or something.

To withdraw your application just go back to the listing and click on the “apply” box beside the dates of the sit which will withdraw your application from the sit. I just did this the other day.

OK. Wow, that sounds like a good way to un-apply by mistake while scrolling on a small screen if that’s all you have to do! I could see doing that accidentally :grimacing:
