Confused about my rating

Hi there,

Can anyone tell me If I was rated 4/5 for organized, 5/5 for reliable, 5/5 for self-sufficient, 5/5 for clean and tidy, and 4/5 for pet care, why did the system rate me low and give me a final score of 3/5?

Shouldn’t the final score be closer to 4/5 than 3/5?

I think, I may be wrong, that the final score is input manually by the HO.
Maybe contact them and see if that is how they meant to rate you, mistakes happen

The final score is set by the homeowner. It is not a result of math.

The homeowner chooses the overall rating - it is not an average of the individual scores.

The owner puts the overall score first and then submits the other ratings . They aren’t added up and averaged out.

Many mistakes have been made with the overall score . THS say it’s “user error” but sometimes it’s been due to the stars not being visible on certain devices . So reviewer might as well be blindfolded when trying to guess how many stars they have put overall .

If I was you, I would let it go. As they gave you a 4 for couple of things, they probably were not happy with at least a couple of things so when, before seeing the categories, they were asked to give you an ‘overall’ rating, 3 seemed fair to them ( personally, on the information we have, I think 4 would have been fairer ) but I don’t think It is so wildly wrong for you to question it.

Do you have other 5 star reviews ? If so the odd below 5 won’t hurt so don’t worry about it.

Had they given you a 5 for everything, then a 1 for over all - that is obviously a mistake and worth questioning.

On our last sit we got a 5 for everything and quite a nice written message, then a 4 overall. We are baffled as It feels a bit odd but we are not going to question it. It is not for them to be asked to score us, only for us to question it when we are not happy with the score they give.

Maybe there was something not covered by the other questions they were not happy about? maybe it was because we didn’t bake them a cake and the previous sitter did? maybe they never give 5 in reviews as everything can be improved?

Who knows but whatever the reason, I’m not going to lose any sleep over it.

Thank you, Colin, for your words!

You can respond to the review. Say something like:

‘I’m so pleased to see you’ve awarded me 5/5 in three of the five rating categories and 4/5 in the other two, since I really enjoyed this sit and bonded so well with your lovely animals. I can’t help wondering then at the overall 3/5 rating, which is at odds with my [insert number] previous 5 star reviews, and am very sorry you weren’t completely happy on this occasion.’

This was the first thing that crossed my mind. It’s still a bit odd though (and a bit mean) to award just 3 stars overall, when they’ve awarded 5 and 4 in every category. I think anyone looking at this review will see that, so try not to worry about it, @jalonso24 .
