Consequences of new blind reviews?

Thanks Temba - I see other members have responded. I thought both the homeowner and sitter had to write a review so I’m clear on that now.

I totally agree Lokstar and that’s why I wanted to clarify this review system. Definitely would have no further interest on applying on this sit.

Going back to the OP and the headline of this thread, I wish I had found it when I started a similar thread. Anyway, it’s been over a year now since the system changed and I think we can now confirm some of the ideas expressed here and differ on others.
I would say there has been (still is) some

I am not sure about this

I just recently read an owner saying they would not feel safe writing an honest review. If we were to judge from what we read on the forum, I would say there are more posts of sitters being afraid of not getting sits if writing a less than 5star review but every time someone says that, the vast majority of sitters and HOs, sometimes even unanimously, beg for an honest, factual review. This is different from 15, 16 months ago when the advice was to leave no review, there were even suggestions (half in jest) of code writing.

I think there’s a big difference between a retaliatory review and a retaliatory response and that’s just another reason for writing an honest, factual review in the first place, it would be difficult to justify a retaliatory reply after having written a 5 star review with just praise.

As a conclusion, I would say the system is gradually improving for everyone’s benefit.
