Sometimes owner says : "Read through the listing and don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions ". I saw that in several listings.
How to ask a question without applying. It seems to me that you can only write to an owner by checking the box : apply for these dates.

Hi Flora, I think you are correct, unless you apply or are invited to a sit it’s not possible to start a message conversation. The only other situation I can think of where you can do this is if you’ve sat for someone before, but that’s not a help for your query.
Let me tag @Katie_Mc in case there is a way that I’m not aware of.

Vanessa is correct, you can only message the owner if they have live dates, i.e actively looking for a sitter, or if you have been in contact with the owner previously.
It is likely this message is meant for when they do have live dates, that sitters can reach out to them and ask more questions about the sit.
