I have a sit that ends April 30, 2026. I found another sit that begins on April 27, 2026. I believe my sit end may be flexible so I wanted to contact the April 27 sit and ask if they have any flexibility to start a day later. Is there a work around if I am already committed during the time frame?
You have no way of contacting the owner without applying. Is each sit for only a 2-3 days then?
The workaround would be to ask your current sit host if they would temporarily shorten the sit to end on 26th April. They could then restore the sit to the existing dates if the second application proved unsuccessful.
However with dates so far out, my hunch would be that neither host would want to exercise the necessary flexibility unless you are an exceptionally good match.
You can favourite the listing that starts April 27 and hope that the host contacts you .
HI amysueharwood. This is where I find TH wrong. There is quite frequently flexibility with home ownere especially, if a two week sit or longer. I have managed to do a couple where I have not been able to do the first or last couple of days or so. Thankfully the dates that overlapped were for private reasons and not a sit on TH, so I was able to do them. If it had been booked on another sit I would have had a message saying I was on another sit. Each time the owners had been more than happy, to get friends or family to cover for the couple of days I was unable to do. This way they had a sitter, when they may have been stuck, with making completely alternative arrangements. outside of TH.
One workaround is to have two accounts if you’re a couple, so you can message with whichever account that you’re still free on the second listing’s dates.
Otherwise, you’ll need for another member who has those dates free to message the hosts on your behalf, to relay your interest and contact info or profile URL. That way, the hosts can get in touch if they’re open to flexibility on their sit dates.
