Correcting incorrect name

Hi! I’m really excited about joining trustedhousesitter‘s. The problem I have is that I created an account but did not actually join. My mother logged in and purchased the membership for my Christmas present. Somehow it changed my name on the account to her name. But it’s the same account with the same favorites and preferences. I have everything set up but I cannot change the name on the account back to mine. The only thing left to do is the background check but I can’t do that with the incorrect name because the information will not match. I am in America and their office is closed so I couldn’t get in touch with them. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I’ve already missed out on two stays that would allow me to go home for the holidays.

Hi - what a thoughtful gesture from your mother, but want a complication it’s created. Don’t worry though, as I’ll tag @Angela_L and she’ll get membership services to take care of things for you as soon as they’re back online again.

Many of us are firm believers that everything is meant for a reason, so perhaps the right sit for you will appear tomorrow, rather than today. However, if your account is active, if it’s possible to apply and just explain that you’re working on getting corrections done, then I would do that. Some homeowners would see that as someone who is proactive at getting things fixed and it might go in your favour.

Thank you so much for your quick reply. I appreciate that very much. I was able to figure out a way to change the name, and then I started the background verification process. It looks like that’s been completed but still has to be reviewed by an employee of trustedhousesitters. I can’t apply for any kind of sits until it’s been verified so hopefully that will be done soon. Again, thank you so much your quick reply it’s very encouraging and means a lot to me.

Hi @JetPlaneMaryJane Wonderful, I see you have put together a lovely profile and all the verifications are done, which is such good news. I would suggest you request another 2 external references to really build your profile. Once you do your first sit, and you receive the TrustedHousesitters Review, you will be well on your way. This has just happened to me. I updated the CC information, which uses my formal name obv, and now my identity on the site is my formal name and being able to change it seems not possible.

@Katie If you go to your drop-down menu, settings, account detail, you can change your name there, which will will then directly reflect on your profile.
