Because of all the current hoo ha I thought I would check my membership details regarding renewal date etc.
So I joined at the beginning of January 2024 on the basic plan. I have had one referral credited to my account and two people joined on my recommendation but no extra credit for them. Somehow my renewal date is 2 February 2026 on a standard plan??? Somehow I have been scaled up to a higher (but not premium) plan. And lost a month.
I would suggest everyone who hasn’t already check your renewal because there is something strange happening there too.
@Cathie I just had a look at my account, screenshot below. This is new, or I’ve just never seen it before. Because auto renewal is on (which I also didn’t realise) I have the option of pausing my membership in March then in June it will be automatically renewed. Same level of membership unlike your upgrade. But this pause and then auto renew is definitely new to me! I would be contacting support if I were you to ask why the upgrade, if there’s anyone still responding oh, and sounds like you have gained a month not lost one as you joined in January and you say it’s renewing February.
@ziggy Mine was on auto-renew too, which also came as a surprise to me. I said no thanks to pausing for three months, at which point I was offered a 20% discount. I declined this as well, for obvious reasons. I’ll be making the most of my current membership, whilst looking for alternative options moving forward.
@Becca So you hadn’t seen that before either? I was quite surprised. I didn’t turn off auto renew because I couldn’t due to an upcoming sit, that sit has ended now.
@ziggy My current membership didn’t auto-renew from my previous membership, which wasn’t set to auto-renew (ie. there was a gap between the two) so I think that any new membership perhaps defaults to auto-renew unless you change that manually.
@Becca ive been a member since 2019 and never been on auto renew. But. I think what happened was I changed from premium to basic and it automatically generated an auto renew, which I wasn’t aware of. I have manually switched it off now.
@Cathie I have no idea about your change in the basic/standard plan. The basic plan doesn’t include insurance, so are you sure you haven’t changed that over time, that’s the only reason I can think of.
Anyway, what I can tell you is that the referral scheme has always made sense to me. I’ve done it a large amount of times - see below - 108 free months in total, that’s now 9 years worth, we only paid for our first year, the rest we’ve got free.
The two additional people that joined with your link, probably didn’t end up using your link, even though they may have thought they did.
They may have checked out THS off the back of your conversations, maybe looking for THS reviews etc, and then THS gave them a discount either through google ads or wherever, it’s so easy to do with all the marketing that THS does, so they’ve probably just not used your link when they actually signed up.
I am saying this because I’ve had a couple of people contact me to apologise to say they’re really sorry they’ve just realised it wasn’t my link they signed up with. Which obviously I’ve never been bothered about, because we’ve got THS for free anyway. So the likelihood is, they didn’t use your link, even though they thought they did, they used a discount code from THS.
Well, @ziggy, you made me curious so I looked at mine, and it’s different from your example. The app just has a little box that says “Your membership is: sitter.” That’s super helpful…
Then the website shows this:
Great, my plan is a blank!
I “guess” this means I have a basic membership, and I hate that I resorted to AI, but I asked “Frankie” and it did actually give a relevant answer, as well as clarifying why I only have 3 saved searches.
Not clear if they used your reference link ( which would have given them a discount on membership) ?
If they did use your link but it wasn’t automatically credited ( this has happened to us several times ) you can contact member services to get the months added on .
You give the name of the member and the date they joined up .
Use live chat and ask to chat with a human ( not the chat bot )
@HappyDeb I’m glad I started some questions. Only ever signed up for basic, so never upgraded myself to standard but haven’t checked the website yet as I only use the app so who knows what that shows. I did get notified that I would get 2 months free from one person using my code but renewal only pushed out from Jan to Feb so just one month.
@Silversitters perhaps you are right about people thinking they used my code when they had been sent other advertising. Both people have completed two sits of their own, neither would have been done through THS if not for my referral so I may give contacting support a go. I figure they will be flat out at the moment though so no rush just yet. Seems like a lot of different offers going around though. And why the app and the website would have discrepancies between them is a mystery.
