we do what we gotta do. No big deal. Enjoy!
One of my most memorable experiences in Bali (and boat life) was the outdoor facilities.
if it was warmer i wouldn’t care much, but i’m currently in the van under a blanket and wearing a fleece. the thought of purposely getting soaked is not enticing. lol. so, sponge bath for me again.
We took this monster on a delivery trip from Chicago to Orlando in February. It was 31 foot long but it was the width that caused all the problems. It was not a success. So we started looking at much smaller ones but the prices are far too high for our pockets. Even the salesman told us to wait for a year or two until this current craze dies down or we would be losing money as we only want to keep it for a couple of years.
That idea was scrapped and we bought an old Ford Explorer which is in the garages at the moment. The belt broke on Sunday on our way to a sit in Georgia. Luckily we were close to our destination and the pet parents came and picked us up. They then gave us a loan of a car until ours is fixed. I just love the people we meet.
That has been one of most wonderful surprises during my trekking and bebopping around.
When we had our big RV I refused to drive it for a month The great thing about Texas was everywhere was big enough to accommodate it, even the shopping mall car parks, so once I got started (forced into submission) I grew in confidence. I think the only other country I’d drive one this big would be in Australia (away from towns and cities). Sorry to hear about your breakdown but what a good outcome!
oof. that thing is a BEAST! my first rental was a super high about 25 foot long van. It took a bit to get used to but was normal width. I was surprised how easy it was to drive. i have seen some of these big boys though and i would hate that. heck, there are places i go in my wee van that i worry about.
can I borrow a bed but take the car if you don’t want it? pretty please?
Any recommendations for or against renting a small camper/van and travelling around Europe as a single girl who knows nothing about campers or vehicle mechanics…?
Still very much a work in progress but here is my baby! I did all the work with my own little hands!!!
I see that a HO is asking on fb if THS allows an RV to be used as a home listing for sitters.
Not uncommon to see RV’s/campers/motorhomes/houseboats etc listed on THS. Also see yachts, narrow boats and other stuff listed. Think there is currently a yacht listed somewhere, can’t remember where.
Mine too with a chef and chauffeur!
Our current RV is a 24-foot-long Mercedes Sprinter. It came fully converted from a company that’s been outfitting RVs for generations. I chose it, because it’s the width of most cars, which means it’s easier drive and park vs. many other RVs. I also wanted an enclosed shower (versus many in this size having showers that spray over the toilet and all).
It doesn’t look like an RV to many folks, unless they know to look for solar panels and such. Because it’s “normal looking,” we’ve been able to park it in front of our homes, without getting homeowners’ association complaints.
Inside, it looks almost identical to this, from the builder’s website:
