Definitely give truthfulreview – and I would not be worried about him coming back to vandalize or do anything nefarious, remember they have his full information and his identity has been verified. People don’t normally go back when they are known. I am so sorry this happened to you, it sounds absolutely awful.
I just realized that the review period is closed!? Why only 14 days? It took more than a week just to schedule a call w THS staff. Now what…?!

Yes I did. There was one slightly off which I asked him about and he refuted. All the others were very positive
I hope your home and kitty are doing better now. It’s a shame you missed the review period, it was shortened last year to two weeks.
At this point I suggest you file a dispute. You’ll need to submit photos and report on all the issues. No homeowner wants to accidentally select this sitter and without a negative review on his profile there is no way we’ll know (blank sitter reviews don’t show up), but at least THS can monitor or remove him. Pot isn’t legal everywhere so I’d say the joint alone is a pretty strong argument for removal.

I also had a bad experience with a sitter and was afraid to write a negative review as he knows where I live. His first name wasn’t xxx was it? the sit was last march.

So many fake and untruthful reviews floating around, quite frightening.
This is really frightening! I wonder about him writing his own references or reviews, possibly. My customers sent in references for me when I first started on THS, and these show up as reviews even though they weren’t customers fr the THS platform. Maybe he just sent the reference link to some cohorts or to himself through some made up emails, etc, and just gave himself good reviews. He must have needed a place to party and stay. Yuck. I’m so sorry that happened.

I am so sorry and absolutely shocked that you’re going through this. It’s one thing to make a mistake in an area you’re not too good at (I always need very clear instructions on plants for example). But the Pot Story is unacceptable. I would hate for myself to get a negative review, but in this situation, others should know. I feel so incredibly sad for you. THS is such a wonderful platform, but this should never happen. 
I’m new to this site…one day. If it is too late to leave him a review are you able to disclose to us the user name, city and state so we can all avoid this situation? If not allowed then please disregard.
Did he leave a review on you as host?
If yes, you can reply to his review, and I believe it’s not time limited.
And if you raise an issue with THS, you must use the magic words “member dispute”, otherwise your concerns probably won’t be addressed, or not addressed in a timely manner, ie, too late to leave your review.
I also believe you can still leave a response to the sitters review after 14 days.
Correct, there’s no time limit to respond to his review, if he left one. Unfortunately what’s missing is an honest review of the sitter to warn future HO’s.

You don’t need to be unkind, just factual about what you found.
That said, I also share your frustration that reviews and “internal notes” are currently the main recourse. When pet welfare and repeated breaches of trust are at stake (like animals left without water or medication, unauthorized guests, houses left in unsafe or unsanitary condition), it seems clear that our community needs a stronger accountability system. Other platforms use a simple strike/warning process so that repeated issues lead to consequences — and I’d love to see THS take steps in that direction.
You’re not alone in this. Many of us want THS to thrive, but that means protecting hosts and sitters by ensuring pets are always safe and well cared for.

Absolutely put up a review that reflects what you came home too. I would be raging.
I’m a sitter and I want to see real reviews from previous sitters so I can decide if the sits for me.
It’s called “Trusted” for a reason and the trust goes both ways, he sounds like he abused your home and certainly did not take care of your cat.
Hopefully your previous sits will confirm to you that there are plenty of good house sitters out there. Good look with your next sit
I have this same concern! I just had a similar experience with sitter that left my home in an awful dirty and chaotic state, and one of my indoor/outdoor cats is still staying away, he must have disliked them so much. I want to leave an honest factual review, but I’m nervous because they know where I live, and for all I know they made a copy of the keys! And they’re local, not international.
