It is fixed. But it is set up differently than it was. Things are moved around again, So it’s a lot of work for any human, since humans think narratively, to tell their story and describe the sit coherently. It is also sectioned off in a way that is a different way from the way in which humans, think write, and read. This is some that could be fixed by whomever is designing this working with the coders and engineers. For now the text appears in the same order I think that it has been in for a few weeks. Anyone trying to change something will still have to dig deep into the listing to find where that thing is. This is true for both boxes you check if you are trying to change an amenenity or a house rule, and for your text.
Yesterday, there were no text boxes at all Today some sections the text box. Yesterday the “about” section was missing I think. Today this exists, but it is the third on the initial drop down. This includes subsections. Two of those subsections have text boxes, I’ll discuss later.
In the Home and Location Section, the first one, there are now a bunch of subsections. Unhelpfully, the the “describe your home” and “describe your location” subsections are both just check-offs with no text boxes (by design not mistake) for description. So the word “describe” is an unfortunate word and frustrating wordchoice that they should change. The homeowner won’t know this, but they’ll have an opportunity to describe their home in a subsection of “about” which comes much later.
There are several subsections in the Home and Location. Only “Home Care” has a text box. You wouldn’t know this just by looking in the sections. You’d have to go through each one. Home Care would probably be the place to put the none-pet responsibilities. What I had done done previously here was put my explanation of my guest policy, since I don’t like the wording on the dropdown, as I want to know about the possibility of guests prior to confirmation not “before the sit.”
Also if you are writing this for the first time, or editing, you’ll have to keep going back to the three main sections in order to find the other sub sections you are looking for. Good luck with that! Also since most homeowners only do this a few times a year, they’ll need to figure it out all over again every time they want to make any change. So you know how you are rated on “accuracy of listing”? Good luck with that!
“Pet Care Responsibilities” is the current sub-section of main section Pet Care where you can find your text box, so if you wanted to describe Fluffy’s personality and you didn’t do this in “about” you could do it here along with the routines.
Finally the third listed main section “about” has “introduction” as a subsection with a text box, the “photo” load for the home, and finally the “listing description” which is would be the main narrative where you write your general description including about why a sitter might want to come there in the first place – your tourist attractions, comfy beds, other stuff not included in any of the check offs like whether you’ll be loaning a car, or just the details you might add to checkoffs.
Because you don’t know at first where things wind up, it would be very frustrating for example if you just wanted to give some details/options about arrival time that don’t fit neatly into the narrative. This issue existed before this latest update.
It really feels like writing the profile has gone from a simple “fun” writing activity, to something that feels like a technical task. So yeah, now I can “edit” my listing but I need to develop a personal cheat seat, based on this post to get me through it and find where things are until the next update.
