Hi from San Fran, CA USA

Hi there, I am Anju. New here but not new to pets! I quit my job last year and am traveling like everyone else! What better way to travel and still have the company of pets? It’s taken me a year to sign up, wish I did earlier!! I am looking to start in Asia first…Vietnam has my heart! I am in the learning process, will keep you posted and get all the ideas from this useful resource! Any ideas or suggestions are most welcome!

Thanks- Anju

Welcome! I too would love to sit in Vietnam and there are some sits posted occasionally - mostly from expat teachers and folks. I’ve really enjoyed prior visits that didn’t include sitting.
You might also watch for Jeju Island, South Korea. There are a few English language schools there and the teachers are looking for sitters for school breaks.
I did a ten day sit there with a pup and a pair of cats - pup had been adopted in Shanghai, the cats in Japan, I think. I was sitting there just as covid dropped onto the world. Had to rearrange my flight back to the US as flights through Shanghai were cancelled.

Thanks, Tom, that’s a great suggestion! I will definitely keep looking. In fact, I had been applying to teach English in Korea myself since I’ve been an educator for a long time), but wanderlust is taken over that desire  Thanks again!

@anzoo first, welcome to the forum and to a great group of people who are really ready to help you in your journey. Wow, you are speaking my language. We really want to travel to Asia and Vietnam, Thailand and the Philippines are all places we want to visit. The beauty of the Countries, cost of living, delicious food and general good people make it all very enticing.

We watch a great deal of Youtube on Asia and have found some beautiful areas we want to visit…all in hopes of finding a few sits along the way.

I wish you luck and if you have any questions, just reach back out here for help or use the spyglass at the top of the page, type in your question, and most likely you will find what you are looking for.

Welcome fellow San Franciscan to the forum. I hope you soon find the perfect sit and enjoy your travels to your hearts desire
I joined two years ago after partially retiring and absolutely love it. Although I’ve yet to sit abroad I hope to next year. I just returned from a month in Vermont and Two wonderful sits. Wishing you all the best.

Hi Anju, Dave here.
We’ve visited Vietnam a number of times and most recently spent nearly two years there during the worst of the pandemic times, in Hoi An…so I can answer some of your questions perhaps. Also, if it helps, I can put you in touch with a lady who runs Vietnam Cat Welfare based in Hoi An…she’s always looking for volunteers to help out, if that appeals.
Cheers, Dave

Hi Dave,
Beautiful Hoi An!! I missed one sit that was right up my alley- Bridget the artist, has a gallery in Hoi An. I did come across Catherine’s post too! Please do introduce me to her. I’d really appreciate it. I am going to Danang next month. I will definitely go to Hoi An as well. I will go check in with her!
Thanks- Anju
