How important to 'click' with owners on a video call?

Bingo. One host revealed during the video chat that their cats needed injections and one was terminally ill. AND in the video chat their home was revealed to be in a state of chaos. Sorry, but if you aren’t going to be honest about what’s required in your post? What else aren’t you going to be honest about? AND in that case, the pix of the sit were wildly diff than the actual condition of the home.

Yup. Even if a host doesn’t lie, but gives you an off vibe, imagine if say their pet fell ill, got injured, ran away, or say their home was damaged, or so on. You’d have to partner with them to problem-solve. If they’re the irrational or unreasonable types, or whatever personality makes life more difficult, you could end up stuck or stressed needlessly. You might end up with an adversarial dynamic or so on.

That’s why I look for signals from the outset and consider the host the No. 1 potential deal-breaker, no matter how appealing the sit might be otherwise.

Sitters and hosts risk more when they don’t look ahead at potential trouble. To me, why complicate life to a degree that’s mostly avoidable? Of course, that’s subjective.

The results should speak for themselves, though. Like if a sitter or host runs into problems repeatedly, then they’re probably not paying attention to signals. Like we can see that on the forum — some users keeping having suboptimal sits. That’s not just bad luck. And conversely some sitters have overwhelmingly good sits. That’s not just luck, either.
