Hi @Grandma and we can’t wait to see some of your lovely pet pictures!

Here’s a screenshot of the instructions for sharing photos in the forum…

Have a look in the Just for Fun, or All About Pets categories, and you’ll find lots of topics you can practice posting on, or you can start your own topic. You might find it easiest to start with the photo icon option for adding your pix, as it’s easier to control than dragging and pasting if you’re not used to doing this.

Here are some more instructions for other basic functions in the forum that may also be of help. If you still have problems, let me know and I’ll work through this with you.

Good luck and have fun! All the best, Vanessa

I understand @Grandma - I began my career when IBM personal computers were first introduced to the market, so I’ve had a lifetime of computers and still struggle these days with things advancing so quickly!! But you’ve shared a picture… well done!! We look forward to seeing more and don’t ever hesitate to ask for help if you need it

Thank you to all of you. It is refreshing to see , we are getting heard and answers are coming fast.
I would have never think to have a life like this but I like it.
It is very humbling to see HO attitudes.
I would have never imagined this in a million year. I don’t know how long I will continue to do HS but I can say it is refreshing.
Thanks again to all of you.

Hi. Now maybe being here has also made you realize that being any age - whatever that is for each of us - is not a handicap to many skills. Many of us - myself included - go against the negative stereotypes and biases associated with ageing. Computer skills may not be your forte, but no doubt you have many skills you bring with you. As a senior, I’m often helping those much younger than me to navigate tech, and it was not my professional world, but rather something that really interests me. I hope you enjoy your housesitting chapter of life.

I’ve no idea how to share photos to the THS Instagram. I’ve tried repeatedly but I just can’t do it. So I miss out on the THS competition for a year’s free membership.

I can’t help you with that one unfortunately as I’m not much of an Instagram user these days, but I’m sure someone here on the forum will be able to. When there’s a competition next I’ll make sure to check out the procedure

Thank you. Until now I thought I was lonely or alone. But suddenly having so many replies and support mak s me feel good. I wish there was a way to bring people face to face.
Have a great day.

Hi @LTD. To share a picture on Instagram to a group, you use the # key.
You can use it in your description of your picture eg
This is my cat . #trustedtales #trustedhousesitter #catsofinstagram

Or you can add a group of tags as a comment to your own picture after you have posted it

#trustedtales #trustedhousesitter #cats #dogfavourite

Often once you start to type, a suggestion is offered, a bit like predictive text, so if you type #cat a number of options will come up and you can select the group you wish to share your picture with. I think you can add up to 20 groups per picture (20 times # )

To find various groups you may be interested in you can use the search in Instagram.
Start with the # and then add whatever you want #kingcharles is a group, as is #kingcharlescavalier, #kingcharlesspaniel, and various combinations. I think when you do this search the most popular, or group with most members, is at the top of the list.

That’s hilarious… it took me a few minutes to notice one dog sat on the other :joy: :joy: You’ve definitely got the hang of it now!

Do be mindful of anything in your photos that could identify where you are, (spotted the package on the table), just out of caution and for privacy. It’s easily done but I have checked this and it’s pretty blurred… I can’t read anything  Lovely pups!!

Still clueless. Am I posting in the Instagram for Trusted Housesitters or ‘TrustedTales’?
Edit: have posted with the hashtag Trusted Housesitters but ‘Trusted Tales’ says ‘No results found’.
Further edit: There is nothing which says: ‘post to Instagram’ so the post has been discarded.
I have NEVER understood Instgram, nor the reasons behind the concept actually. If I can’t master the technology within 10 minutes I tend to give up.

Are you using the instagram app? no spaces between words…You post in your own id/wall and the # shares your picture to another person/group.

In instagram to post a new picture on your own profile, select the + icon, this will show you your pictures in your phone.

Then, once you have selected a picture, “next”

Then you can comment about your picture and add a tag which will share that picture to the group you tag, in this case #trustedtales

or once you have posted your picture, in the comments box you can add #groups

There is a lot more to instagram now that I don’t get either, videos, effects, advertising - people make a living posting pictures! but to keep it simple, if you can follow my instructions…

Taaa-daaa! I’ve done it! What is confusing and irritating is that I don’t have ‘Post’: I have an arrow, top right of my screen, which was throwing me. But I think, all done now.

Well done. Instagram is one of those things which varies depending on the app - android or iPhone, and there are web versions that are completely different, and again vary depending on browser…
