I'm Joe and I'm new to the forum

Hello. I’m Joseph (Joe) from Minneapolis. I signed up to this website a couple months ago, but it’s taken me awhile to finalize my listing as well as get getting over my emotional hurdles with finding a pet sitter. Lol.

Anyways, I’m new to all this and would welcome any advice to moving things forward. I do have some questions as to the usability of this site.

  1. I don’t see a welcome listing link from the dashboard page. I’m not sure if that’s something that only appears after my listing gets finalized or not.
  2. There’s also no drop down for “Introduce yourself” when creating a topic, per instructions, hence why I’m posting here.
  3. I thought having an account created on TrustedHousesitters would automatically give me access to the forum, but I had to register again for forum access.

Please let me know if there’s something I’m doing wrong.

Anyways. I’m Joe. I have an awesome cat. I love to travel and looking to get back into it and connect with people and receive any advice that anyone has for first time users of this site. I am reading through many of the posts trying to educate myself.

Thanks in advance.

Hi and welcome @joemanmn !

You are right - the community forum is totally separate and not linked to your account here, as such. That means that a member could choose to not give personal info/ listing info on forum, and also that non-members could be part of the forum.

You could introduce yourself in the Intro.-section of the listing. It is however my advice to use the Intro-section mainly to give the reader a compelling reason to read on and not scroll further to the next listing (but keep reading yours) - tell sitters why they should come to your area and what there is to see and do. But ofc. - also a few words about you, as many appreciate the connection between pet- lovers and because it gives a good impression for a friendly exchange.

You can learn a lot from reading on forum (just keep in mind that people come here to get help with issues, we are not quite good enough on coming here to tell about the wonderful matches we’ve made  )

If you would like input on your listing you can add the link to your listing in your forum profile (otherwise we can’t see it).

How to add a listing or profile link to your FORUM profile

Can’t help with what a host can see on their profile, I’m sure a fellow host will come to the rescue.

Best of luck - hope you enjoy it!

Hi there Joe,

Here’s some listing guides that may help when writing your listing. Linking your listing to your forum bio will definitely help, as members can view & give feedback.
Hope that helps!
