Inbox update - June 2024 Release

I agree, the new inbox is totally appauling, it’s useless and not fit for purpose. I can’t believe how rubbish THS have now made it.

@Globetrotter We’ve found exactly the same thing and only by reverting to the old style inbox could we view previous communications.

@Carla Does it mean all previous communications will be lost, when the new messaging system is fully implemented? It would be a mistake!

@Happypets I can see why that would be concerning. To reassure you I have been told you will still be able to access all of your previous conversations. I am just waiting to hear back about seeing a previous application and how that will look as per @Globetrotter post :slight_smile: I will update here when I know more.

What concerns me is that quite a few of us beta tested this out over several weeks, provided regular feedback and it has been launched with many deficiencies.
Twice now I have reverted to the original Inbox.
As others have stated, what is the point of all of these negative changes?

I’m sure this will get merged into the already too long post about the new inbox, but why has the search function gone away in the new inbox? How hard would it have been to keep that? I have many messages in my inbox and if I wanted to get back in touch with someone under the old way, I would simply search for the sender’s name and it would come up. Now we have no way to do that. Does anyone else miss that function? Is there anyway to get that function back?

You could revert to the old Inbox while you can. If we all did that, then it may make the Product team sit up and think

Yes. They were offering the switch back to the old inbox only temporarily, to give users opportunity to get used to the new inbox.

Is there any moderator on here, like @carla or someone else who can mention this to the tech team? The fact that we no longer have the search function, in my opinion, makes the new inbox even more difficult to use. I know that we can go back and find sitters and owners that we have messaged previously merely by looking at our dashboard and going to previous sits or previous sitters, but did anyone on the technical team think of this scenario – I am both a homeowner and a sitter, so my inbox is full of messages from both owners and sitters, and I like to keep them so I have a history of our conversations. I have traded messages with another combined member. She has invited me to sits, and I have invited her to sits, but the timing hasn’t worked out for us. I’d like to get back in touch with her, I know her name, but to find her previous messages to me in my inbox has become a very tedious task without the search function. Can someone tell me if the search function can be restored in the new inbox and why wasn’t it deemed necessary to keep?

On the website I can still convert to the old inbox. Not on the app.

The option is no longer available for me. My guess is the option will go away for you sometime soon as well. I think they rolled out the new inbox in batches and perhaps I received it sooner than you so that’s why my option is gone and yours is not yet gone. Any moderator want to weigh in on why some people still have the option to convert back to the old inbox and others do not?

My inbox switched to the new one a couple of days ago .
Today I have been able to switch back for the third time.

I notice there is a new format in the message thread. I just applied for a sit, and it no longer shows whether it is read or unread. Is this a new way of doing things?

If so, what other changes have I missed?

There is a button so you can revert back to the ‘old’ way (it’s on the top of the page on a laptop, not sure about the app), so maybe it will still show the read/unread on there. But I am quite certain that button will vanish very quickly.

Other changes - My main problem is that there is now no search function. So when I’m trying to contact someone I haven’t messaged in a while, I need to trawl through every single message before getting to them, making it incredibly time consuming and old fashioned, and each of those messages takes up a large space as it shows part of the text too. I’m usually quite positive to change, but the new way is totally backwards. So I’ve been reverting back all of the time, but it will vanish before long.

What a genius move. No more endless complaints about hosts not reading sitters’ applications or messages. Just ditch the read/unread indicator and keep everyone blissfully in the dark. Problem solved, complaints gone. How clever

Hi @Carla I use the app on Samsung android devices and have the current app version but my inbox still looks the same as the old version. When I sign on to the THS website on the same devices I have the new inbox version. Why can’t I see the new version on the app?
