Issue with Editing/Changing Listing Information

I know I’ve brought this up before. I am hoping to get some other owner response or maybe have the forum moderator report this to whomever supports the website and app.

There is information on my listing on the app about my pets which is NOT on the web version and which is old and outdated. I cannot change that information. The result of this is a discrepancy which some sitters might think is misleading. I thnk what happened was that at some point this information was taken off the web version and the app changed so it was still there but couldn’t be changed, edited, or deleted.

The result for some homeowners could be the sitters referring to long deceased pets which might feel painful and confusing if the homeowner deleted this from the web page. This could also result in sitters feeling misled because the app states the pet is healthy and doesnt require meds while the listing elsewhere mentions meds so it looks like the homeowner isn’t doing their job on updating the information.

This has been an issue for at least a year. Anyone else troubled by it?

Replying to myself and anyone who comes across. So I figured out that the only way to delete the really outdated pet information that only appears in the app and not on the website is to delete the pet information from the phone and then reload the photos, breed, age, medications yes or no on the web page. Then it didn’t load on the phone immediately.

Again, the issue is that MOST pet parents will not know that this information exists and can’t be edited or updated on the app but does not exist on the web page. Most sitters who use the app will not know that this information might be very outdated. This information was DELETED by THS from the web listing when they deleted “your pets” as a category separate from “responsibilities.” It remained as a ghost section haunting the app page with no way to make any changes.

Yep I’ve had this issue too. I dug into every possible area of my web listing and found how to delete deceased pets after a sitter mentioned my little long gone hen. It wasn’t easy! I think it was under pet photos on the website but at the very bottom of the listing, not the new space. Anyway, yeah, it’s frustrating.

Hi @Marion

Thanks for posting about this - I’ve passed your comments over to the team.

I’ll let you know if I hear anything back

Thanks, Jenny. I actually remember mentioning this on a thread a while back and Shafofo also responded with her deceased hen story. I think with so many misunderstandings between hosts and sitters, this ghost thread really should be deleted from the app and homeowners should get an email about the change. I’m not sure why they got rid of pets as a separate section to begin with and think it would probably make more sense to have a Pets and Other Responsibilities section with prompts to help hosts keep things short and to the point but address the main needs of each pet first and then mention of other household specifics. And of course, the web listing content and the app listing content should match.

I agree with this too, especially as it’s been mentioned that not everyone can see the captions on photos, which is where much of my pet details end up so I don’t clutter the responsibilities section. All in all, I find the whole setup clunky.

I can’t see the captions on photos on the website. I didn’t know that anyone could. I can write them on the website, but not see them. It’s been like this I think my entire membership.

Another frustration with the Pets section. I work really hard to keep this section updated, which on a small farm is not that easy! We currently have just 3 sheep, 2 ducks, 2 cats, a handful of fish. First off, I can’t select quantities for livestock, which is annoying because it makes it sound like sitting here could be a lot of work but it’s not.

My big grumble today is that while checking my listing in the app before adding dates for an upcoming sit I found this info under my Fish. It obviously transferred over from my responsibilities section during some (unnecessary and unhelpful) update. I can’t even find it to fix it so I deleted the fish altogether.

It’s no wonder there is so much more miscommunication on sits lately! Who even knows what sitters are seeing or not seeing when they read a listing, no matter how hard the HO tries to be clear and honest.

After realizing that my old pet stuff was live and not updated on the app (but not on the webpage which is what I usually use) I found the ONLY way for me to get rid of it was to elminate the pets altogether on the app. This meant everything – photos, etc had to be reloaded for all pets, but it was the only way to finally be done with it so that it now doesn’t appear on the webpage or on the app. Not holding my breath that THS will change this. It really is a shame because it makes responsible hosts look irresponsible in the eyes of sitters who aren’t aware of the situation and could be preventing some people from applying to sits because of outdated information.
