Items missing afterwards

After an ambulance trip to the ER, my stepfather said his Rolex was missing. My mother’s immediate thought was to accuse the EMTs. Four months later, my stepfather found it right where it was supposed to be, in his jewelry box. I’m not sure my mother ever bothered to look.

Yeah, it’s easy to blame anyone but yourself. I didn’t think anyone had made off with my jewelry, I thought I had lost it. I’m going to guess that the missing items in the OPs house are still in the OPs house.

Ah! That explains five teapots! Continue to enjoy your various tea(s) as I’m sure you will. I’m much more conservative in my tea drinking, straight forward tea bag of medium strength, very boring!

We have been on THS for 10 years and the last sit is the only time that I found things were missing. Not put in another place (which can be easily done) but totally absent. Like @Regi I didn’t notice all at once, but over a period of weeks as I wanted to use the things. It included the middle stainless steel pot of a set (I still infuriatingly have the lid), a Silpat baking mat, a couple of whisks and a few other minor items. I don’t know if they were accidentally damaged and thrown out or taken as “souvenirs”. In the end I just let it go.

It helps to know it wasn’t only me with that experience, just couldn’t imagine …yes you have no choice just get over it…

In the weeks before my sit I worked with a professional organizer to minimize (cull the fat, if you will) my apartment to ensure the space was prepared for a temporary guest. So it’s baffling to me that now one month afterward I’m still discovering things that have either been misplaced by the PS or simply ‘lost’ (or taken, although I can’t imagine why) – a champagne glass, a set of brass measuring cups, a turkey baster … a friend recommended video taping the contents of my home before but I thought that was crazy, now I’m thinking she may have been right. Sigh.

I can’t understand why you wouldn’t just ask. Is it not possible that something was misplaced instead of stolen?

I had to google what that was… and I found an interesting application…

With PP’s permission we have used a turkey baster to feed meds to a sick kitty. It’s a versatile tool

In 40 sits we were only asked once if we took a packet of spice with us. We were slightly shocked because our next sit was in Australia and we left the PP all our spices, foods, meds and cosmetics which we didn’t want to risk bringing through the Australian customs. We definitely didn’t take his spice, but most likely placed it somewhere behind other spices.
