Hoping you can help me. Thank you for letting me join this forum.
I recently joined Trusted House sitters and and have created my listing but have had no enquiries. Just wondering if it was worth joining? Is there a list of pet sitters that I could contact?
Thanks

There could be many reasons. Suggest peruse THS Forum articles via magnifying glass ‘search’ button at top of Forum. Also encourage add THS listing to THS Forum profile as some experienced THS Forum members may offer guidance.
You left out the part about how long ago you published the dates.
If it’s been a few hours with no applicants, be patient. If you’ve been waiting weeks for an applicant there’s a problem.
Post a link to your listing (it can be integrated into your forum profile) so we can take a look at it and see if there are things that can be changed to make it more desirable to potential sitter applicants.
Hi Kelly Your listing looks good. As a Sitter, I see that it includes lots of relevant info about the area and also about Bailey, who looks lovely. Don’t get discouraged - there is plenty of time for a good Sitter to apply. While many Sitters like to book themselves up a long way in advance, many others, like me, don’t usually book sits more than 2 or 3 months ahead.
Hello and welcome @Kelly2 It’s matchmaking for travelers; so you can reach out to others, and people can reach out to you, if they view your profile and listing as a potential good match.
Since it’s in September, keep in mind that many have canceled their membership renewal and may no longer be members at that time. Good luck
Ok, I found your listing by scrolling through “Barnard Castle” listings. I have no doubt you’ll find an excellent sitter in time, as your dates are more than six months away. Your listing looks fabulous, and as a sitter I appreciate so many things about your home, your sweet dog, and your area. Very enticing! You are wise to say your home is comfortable and lived in to scare off any ultra-fastidious sitters who might otherwise complain.
One sticking point for many sitters will be that they can only leave the dog for four hours at a stretch. One way to accommodate hesitant sitters would be to offer a local dog sitter or friend to come and let him out on a few occasions, to allow the sitter a little more freedom. This can be stated in the intro or in the Responsibilities section.
Another drawback for some sitters is having to walk him for a full hour every morning. This is not a problem per se, just that it will reduce the field of sitters who might otherwise be interested. But don’t be discouraged - I’m amazed at the number of sitters who sign up and follow through on sits requiring lots of activity!
I think the main issue is the listing is so far off. It’s great to post it way ahead, and plenty of sitters are making their plans for a year from now already, but you will surely get some applicants as the weeks unfold. Best of luck, and happy travels!
Be patient and check your listing daily to insure you don’t miss any applications.
You’re more than 8 months out from your trip. That’s fine but only a few sitters are scheduling that far out.
Your listing looks fine but I would work on the pictures. Pick up the room before snapping shots. You want the photos to look how the rooms will look when a sitter arrives. Add a photo of Bernard Castle, the nearby shopping streets and a photo of your garden. Update your photos as better snaps are collected.
Your title does not jump out at all and titles are the first hook when trying to attract attention. Your second hook is your profile’s picture. It too should be attractive.
I think as you’re not the “super popular”-category (big cities, cats, can be left for whole day), it matters that your dates are far in the future. People dont hurry to apply to your sit, like they would if that sit was in Amsterdam. But it has many positive things, such as nice and informative profile, and relatively long sit length.
Be aware that if you secure a sitter now, a lot can happen by September, and you might have to search again. So listen carefully to -why- someone wants to come, once they apply.
