Member disputes

Hi everyone, just reaching out for some support and maybe advice. Has anyone had an experience where they’ve had a member dispute raised on them for mostly superficial issues and one outright lie? The homeowner unfortunately seems pretty determined to have some sort of revenge on us. Just wondering what your guises experiences are with member disputes and how you have found them as far as fairness is concerned.

I have no personal experience with this. However, my suggestion to you would be to screenshot/copy everything that you deem relevant to this situation ASAP. You may be locked out of your account.

It hasn’t happened to us but you might want to raise a dispute back against the host or you risk your account being suspended. At least that way it’s a level playing field for now. You also need to screenshot the original listing before they change any of it as well any what’s app messages between you in case they delete them (both have happened to members on here). Then at least you’re protected. Can you refute the dispute and evidence it? Have they suspended you? Can you elaborate a bit without giving away any personal details? Sorry it’s happened, from memory you guys are super experienced sitters with loads of great reviews. #fightback :flexed_biceps:t3:

Yes! I had a couple do this to me because after our zoom call I declined the sit. They claimed that I had verbally agreed to do it. THS called me and I explained my side adding that they could call all my previous sits to confirm that I never do that. I noticed that those HO’s did not renew their membership the following year. Very self entitled and liars to boot. Wasn’t pleasant but THS was clear and understanding.

Any update on the outcome of the member dispute ?

@Worldsitter1 That’s just crazy behaviour, and I’m surprised THS got involved at all since they could immediately ascertain the sit wasn’t officially confirmed!

@TheBrandons0819, sorry to hear. While we have not received a member dispute against us then we have initiated one member dispute against a pet parent.

Can only imagine that Pet Parent initiated member disputes involve different aspects. Hope that you have evidence against claimed issue.

In case helpful, here’s snapshot of our dispute against pet parent. Aggressive dog. THS has a definitive protocol for member disputes (see below). We followed protocol and provided full information as requested. THS MS had a call with us to confirm specific details; THS MS spoke with pet parent; THS MS permanently barred pet parent. Very quick process. Bad housesit experience. Willfully blind pet parent. We had to take deep breath and move forwards.

Suggest read THS related protocol and collate information as appropriate/available.

If lacking evidence then consider incorporate risk mitigation tactics into your procedures for future sits. FYI, if we arrive at housesit and perceive potential property issues (damage, maintenance, cleanliness) or pet parent issues (odd expectations, difficult people) then we take photographs at start and end of housesit - insurance until review. We’ve not had issues but have arrived to a couple of properties that were less clean than expected and wanted to protect ourselves.

Agreed! And exactly what I said to them on the phone in the middle of my work day. This was back in 2022.
