New to Forum, members of THS for a few years as owners.

Hello all, we are Gill and Coll, we live in Somerset and have 2 amazing Boxer dogs, they’re not as loopy as most which allows people to experience the loving nature of this breed. Plus, they’re nearly 9 and 7 so have slowed down a bit.

We have had a few sits over the years but recently had a last-minute cancellation. I have added a post to the “last-minute” area but the post is under review.

Does anyone have any tips for obtaining a last-minute sit? We’re due to go to New York in a week! I’ve privately messaged/invited about 100 sitters in my local area with no luck of a sit.

Kind regards

Gill and Coll

Hello @Gill_Horton and Coll and welcome to the community forum from us all. However, I’m also very sorry you are here due to a last-minute cancellation. I can see you are waiting to go into the Last Minute Sit category and I’ve made a note so that this will automatically go live for you on the 27th … (7 days before the sit start) and I think you may also have a note from @Therese in your direct messages.

Therese has also added your profile link here in the forum to get you some extra exposure.

Your sit is showing as NEW again, and it might be worth you adding a note at the top of your listing to say “Dec sit relisted due to cancellation”, someone may just see this and want to help you out… something we’ve done occasionally in the past… it’s never nice to see pet parents left unexpectedly without sitters :frowning:

We can also post this on social media for you, but we need your permission first. If you can let me know I’ll pass it to the team!

Please feel free to update this thread with some pics of your gorgeous Boxers … images work wonders!! We’ll all keep our fingers crossed and help where we can.

Hi Gill and Coll,

I’m not that familiar with the UK, but here are some thoughts:

  • Actually I’m totally confused looking at your listing now, which is for late January. But you say you’re going to New York in a week? Did you already find a sitter?
  • Your doggie pics are amazing. House pics are not quite up to that level. Better lighting? Pretend you’re trying to sell your home. In a sense, you are.
  • Mention some of the stuff you say here in your actual listing. “2 amazing Boxer dogs, they’re not as loopy as most which allows people to experience the loving nature of this breed. Plus, they’re nearly 9 and 7 so have slowed down a bit.” Sounds great! None of that is in your listing.
    • Ditto for having a last-minute cancellation. That can appeal to sitters who want to help, and it might explain why this listing just pops up (vs HOs being poor planners).
    • You could even mention how you invited over 100 local sitters but still no luck. People appreciate hard work!
  • Adjust the listing title. Maybe, “Gentle boxer dogs! We had a last-minute cancellation. Please help!”

Best luck! –Geoff
