To clarify- also for @OnTheRoadAgain and @FrancesNapa the review situation is different for sitters and hosts. If a host does not receive a review from a sitter there will just be a blank space below the sitters name- but this will only show up on the app so its important to check the app when researching review history.
However If a sitter does not receive a review from the host nothing will show up at all- anywhere- it will be as if the sit never happened…! (only the sitter themselves will see the sit with no review below it on their own profile) So if the OP does not review these dreadful sitters no one will ever know about ithem and they will just get away with it and repeat this with the next unsuspecting host..
Sitters can see the Red flags of missing reviews from previous sitters. Hosts do not have the same Red flag indicator so there is no easy way for them to research it.
Wow. That’s news to us and not at all in a good way. It makes THS appear to be intentionally biased in favor of questionable sitters. This will definitely change how we evaluate and review sitters in the future. Thanks for the reveal.
Yes- it is an important discrepancy between Hosts and sitters that everyone needs to be aware of. Especially HOs - as giving a review is the only way to warn future HOs about bad sitters.
@FrancesNapa On behalf of all seasoned and highly responsible sitters I am apalled and disgusted by these ‘excuse’ for sitters who ruin it for everyone. I’m so sorry you had to endure this.
I’m very glad though that it was not your first timing hosting- it would have put you if for ever, and rightly so. At least you have 10 great experiences behind you so you know this is far from the norm.
Please, for everyones sake, review them accurately. And respond to their review of you if it is unfair. And ofcourse raise a Member Dispute (sounds like that’s in progress) and hopefully these sitters get kicked off the platform.
Give them one star so other pets stay safe. Do you want to read on the forum that a pet died because of their negligence. Bad pet sitters do not equate to violent people. They may text you after the one star but I doubt they will show up or cause damage to your property. They work in the area and I am sure they want to keep their job. If the allegations are as serious as you state then the right thing to do is to worn others.
Oh jeez, somehow I did not know this. What if the sitter reviews the HO but HO does not review sitter… would it show on the sitter’s profile that they had reviewed an HO? Sorry, this seems relevant but is too convoluted for me to figure out (and aim HO only, so not sure what sitters see)
If the sitter reviews the HO all future sitters will be able to read that review. Those who want to cross reference how the HO reviewed the sitter just need to click on the sitters profile pic and scroll through all their reviews till they get to the relevant sit. If the HO gave a review it will be there. If they did not review then there will be no evidence of that sit ever having happened. The location and dates of the sit will simply be missing. The sits before and after will show, with no gap inbetween to raise suspicion.
In contrast, for sitters viewing HO profiles its much easier. If other sitters don’t review the sit still shows up with sitters name and date but a blank space below. Missing reviews for hosts are usually regarded as red flags.
So to answer your question- No there will be no evidence on the sitters profile that they reviewed the HO. For the above reason- there will be no evidence of the sit having taken place at all..
This thread may also help you with the member dispute process - you will need to provide “evidence “ for the investigation .
How did you find out about the third party staying ? If it’s from a video camera you can submit that video as you proof or if you discussed it with the sitters - screenshot the text messages where this was discussed.
