The thread about how to block a member has just been locked without the community manager who locked it replying to my nudge to reply to the OP’s original question let alone address the behaviour of the member who is trolling others.
I’ve already made my decision not to renew my membership; however this is just one more nail in the coffin.
the question was fully answered by the community manager before you replied - report specific posts that members make which are evidence of the accusation. i suggest you take a closer look.
and i don’t see how community managers can do anything about “unpleasant posters” unless their “unpleasant” posts are submitted as evidence. otherwise, it is, as i previously said, simply that you disagree. and i think that’s allowed.
Actually when he insults entire cultures, makes derogatory comments about other members’ intelligence, lack of finances (and they are usually towards female members so let’s toss misogynistic in there too), it is a LOT more than merely disagreeing
okay, well i haven’t seen those, so i can’t comment. but my initial point stands - you know what you can do about it, the community manager provided that information in the other thread.
If the forum gets on your nerves, just take a break for a while. If it is one user, you can ignore them and won’t see their posts any more. Who gets to decide what’s unpleasant?
Can I mention that I do not think the platform works well on Safari, especially when it comes to blocking trolls. I cannot imagine a site of this magnitude being so poorly supported as to not be optimized for both Safari and Chrome. Again, what am I paying a membership fee for? All my complaints aside, I do think the moderators of the forum are doing their best and I thank them. They are receiving it all with what I can only suspect is the same indifference and lack of support that members receive from THS
There are forum managers. You can mute other forum members. People can join the forum even if they aren’t paid THS members. It’s run by the business but has nothing to do with the matching service and sitters. Very few members actually participate or visit the forum. If you are frustrated with the forum policies, don’t come back. But it’s a completely separate issue from the paid matching service for sitters and homeowners.
I have already put him on ignore; however, I still get exposed to how he is behaving when people reply to him. In my opinion if the moderators have time to merge/delete threads and posts that they deem to be off topic they should have time to ban someone who can’t play nicely.
Not true! Although a coffin can be fully secured by just a few nails, traditionally a full pattern of nails was used, thus- MANY additional metaphorical nails could be nailed after the decision has been made. Each nail reinforcing the already made decision.
What would help is people not replying to him. That does put fuel on the fire and he seems to have lots of time to reply, and needs to have the last word all the time. So replying starts a futile chain. Just a suggestion on how to deal with challenging people.
