Our general chit-chat thread!

Hi @Huronbase,

Maggie8k said the Oreos were matcha ice cream flavour, which I’d never seen before.
Here in Scotland they usually only sell the original Oreo or chocolate/strawberry varients. I had a quick search online and it sounds like the filling flavour is a mix of matcha and ice cream, rather than them being ice cream sandwiches that would be kept in a freezer  (which would actually be kind of delicious!)

diverged and bought Cinnabon Oreos once for my daughter. But I don’t eat Oreos anymore. Matcha? I don’t think so. They use it for green tea ice cream. Having tried that in Beijing, not for me.

Cinnabon Oreos sound amazing @Huronbase - I tried some Cinnabon Mini Bon for the first time a year or two ago and they were delicious!

What a lovely idea—thank you for creating this space! I’m feeling extra grateful today, reflecting on how lucky I am to live this kind of life. As a huge history and nature buff, my absolute favorite thing is diving into the story of a place—learning about its past, its people, and its secrets—and then stepping outside and walking through that very landscape. There’s something magical about standing where history happened, then breathing in the wildness that still surrounds it. Whether it’s old mining towns, native petroglyphs, forgotten trails, or preserved homesteads—I’m there with wide eyes and an open heart!

Today, Richard (my Shiba Inu sidekick) and I are tucked into a peaceful little pocket of the desert near an old stagecoach stop. I’ve been journaling about the local history this morning while sipping coffee, and this afternoon, we’re off to explore a nearby canyon said to have ancient rock carvings. My soul is full!

Grateful to be here and excited to hear what everyone else is up to—whether you’re traveling, house sitting, or just enjoying a quiet day at home.

With joy,
Kytka

HELP! I’m trying to get any information about how to complete my membership application. I’ve read so many groups and forums to no avail? To sigh up. I just gave my name, e-mail address and a password! What am I doing wrong? Is it that I’m using an iPad?

(Personal information removed)

Welcome to the Forum @Eileen1 - I wonder if Membership Services might be best placed to help with this!

You can chat to them online by heading here and clicking the green bubble on the bottom right. I recommend asking to “speak to a human”

After hearing all the chirping in the garden earlier, this is one of four baby wrens that were the source of the commotion!

I think this little kitty approved of my choice of ceramic fish in Ortigia, Sicily.:smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Did anyone else manage to get any photos of the blood moon during last Sunday’s Lunar eclipse?

This was my attempt in southeast Sicily, in the first photo, if you look closely enough, I just managed to capture the tail end of a shooting star! :dizzy:

I made 3 applications recently which I have just withdrawn due to 5 days of non response. Each had other applications, but only a couple, so it seems rude not to reply or choose, so that the sit is no longer shown as available. All sits were coming up soon so I would have to reorganise plans and actually need a couple of weeks notice to do this. The lack of consideration is very discouraging

Just wanted to share

a line under House Rules on a current sit states that X “The cat is not allowed on the piano, and he knows this!”

It really made me smile

and to be fair, I have not heard a tinkle out of him

Have they not seen the great musical “ Cats?”
Musical talent could come on in leaps and bounds with some encouragement and make them a fortune !

Hi Everyone :slightly_smiling_face:

After the morning storms finally passed, we had the loveliest morning, taking a picturesque e-bike ride along the local canals and riverfronts to one of our favourite Sunny Coast beaches, where we sat happily contemplating our navels for a good three-quarters of an hour.

Eventually our tummies told us it was time for Elevensies, so we wandered over to our favourite café — Stu with his perfect English Breakfast tea and a slightly warmed raspberry chocolate brownie, and me with a Japanese Sencha and apricot protein ball, enjoying a good bit of people-watching and paper reading.

Wishing everyone a wonderful rest of day or night, and whatever small joys you’ve got ahead. :paw_prints::heart:

Too funny @RedLassie

It reminded me of one of our earliest sits where we had almost the exact same instructions. The HOs told us that Nero, their black Frenchie, absolutely knew he was not allowed on the BRAND NEW WHITE LINEN furniture — a 3-seater chaise, another 3-seater and two gorgeous armchairs. The moment they walked out the door (and I mean literally as he watched them drive off from the front window), he hightailed it straight onto the BRAND NEW WHITE LINEN furniture… and you guessed it, he’d somehow forgotten everything he “knew”! Rather than spending three weeks arguing with the mega-cute Nero, we raided the linen closets and covered every piece of white linen furniture in sight. :joy::rofl::winking_face_with_tongue:
