I’m a HO (& a sitter). We are booking a sitter for an overseas trip this summer. The sitter is not local, but will be in country before our sit begins. My question is this:
Is the sitter able to apply on THS for an additional sit that ends on the same day the our new one begins? (Unfortunately we cannot host the sitter the night before our sit begins because we’ll have extra travelers in the house; the sitter would have to sleep on a sofa in the midst all the pre-trip madness! We are able to host the sitter for an extra night once we return, however.)
Here is an example:
Say our sit (invite accepted by sitter) runs 5 Aug to 15 Aug. Could that sitter apply for an additional local 3 Aug to 5 Aug sit to cover the 4/5 Aug night, or would the sitter receive a “you’re busy with another sit” and be blocked from applying?
Thanks for any clarification!

@mimiingalls Yes sitters can apply for sits that start or end on same date as an already confirmed sit .
There is no guarantee that sitter will want that particular short sit before yours or that the other homeowner will choose them .
We have just confirmed a sit starting the same day another confirmed sit finishes. (Here in Spain)We frequently do that.
Whether your sitter finds another sit that ties in so nicely with yours is another matter! When in the UK we do ‘back to back’ sits all the time as there are so many sits offered!
Yes, I understand.
Appreciate the quick reply!

Allowed yes, whether they might find a convenient sit for just one night it’s another matter…
@Lokstar and @Silversitters is this with a single or duo sitter account?
We may be in a situation where we need to start a sit on the same day a previous sit ends (so not really an overlap, just a back to back) so just want to make sure it’s possible with a regular/single account!
please can you confirm?
It is possible with a single account.
I have 2 sits upcoming, around 20 miles apart, one ending 7th March one beginning 7th March. I will be using public transport although 2nd sit has offered me use of their car.
@mimiingalls The sitter may incur a booking fee for a one or two night sit. Some sitters are planning to avoid such short sits, because they resent that expense. I don’t know the cost of accommodations in your area, but given you’re going away for 10 days, perhaps build in offering to pay for a modest hotel the night before for your sitters. Not all sitters are booking back-to-back, or may live within a reasonable driving distance, so may not even need a place to stay the night before.
I can confirm that’s possible, @bakindoki , since we’ve done it lots of times.
@bakindoki Yes it is still possible to do ‘back to back’ sits (I.e same day handover) on a single account. You would only need Duo Sitter if there is a one/two night overlap.
Each time this thread is posted to and comes up at the top of my feed it triggers my ocd.
This thread isn’t really about booking two sits with the same start and end date.
For those arriving late to this thread, here’s a clarification that you didn’t ask for and probably don’t even need.
It’s about booking two consecutive sits, the second of which starts on the same day the first sit ends.
@mimiingalls, we agree with @Silversitters. Indeed we (and likely other sitters) often have back-to-back sits - even in international. That said, dates are agreed during video call or otherwise prior to sit confirmation.
