Product update to avoid overbooking sits

Hello everyone,

I am just popping on here to share my previous message as it might have been missed higher up.

Just to reassure you during the course of this thread the forum team have collected all of the feedback and passed it on to the Product Team. If you have any new ideas that have not already been covered feel free to tag us and we will make sure those are passed on.

Please also see the new Product Category and how it works here @HelloOutThere Hopefully that will explain how it all works and to manage expectations as to why Ben won’t reply to any direct tags as we have a new process in place, but the forum team are always happy to help where we can and can pass that feedback on.

There has also been the question again asking if sits that start and end on the same day count as overlapping sits. They don’t so you can apply for these. I hope that helps!

I just wanted to pass along an update from the Product team:

We’ve been listening to your valuable feedback about overlapping sits from the forum, Membership Services, and Social Media. We know that this change has sparked a lot of feelings and concerns about flexibility and convenience.

As Angela has mentioned already, we’ve decided to stick with this policy because our top priority is the well-being of our furry friends. There have been instances where not following this policy posed risks to pet welfare, and that’s something we simply can’t compromise on.

We do genuinely appreciate your feedback, and we’re dedicated to making our platform even better.

Here are some exciting enhancements we’re working on:

• Enhancing Date Modification Flexibility: We’re streamlining the process for pet owners to adjust confirmed sitter dates, giving you more control.
• Preventing Invites when a Sit is Confirmed: To avoid any confusion, we’re putting measures in place to stop pet owners from inviting sitters who already have confirmed bookings.
• Automated Application Management: Once a sitter confirms, we’ll automatically close or withdraw applications for overlapping dates. This way, you won’t end up with a confirmed sitter who can’t make it due to another commitment.

We know change can be difficult, but we truly believe these improvements will create a safer and more reliable pet-sitting experience for everyone involved. Your ongoing support means the world to us, and we’re committed to continually striving for the best possible platform for both pet owners and sitters.

As @Jenny mentioned the Forum Team can not make any internal changes or decisions, but it’s great that there is an open discussion here. If we hear about any more new features or updates relating to the overbooking sits then promise to let you know here. Thank you.
