Dear THS friends, regrettably, once a THS policy is implemented, it becomes unchangeable. This forum thread serves not as a platform for collecting feedback but as a space to express our frustrations. Anticipating additional restrictions on sitters to be introduced as “upgrades” soon, I encourage you to proactively navigate these limitations. Consider compiling a list of favorite Homeowners (HOs) and securing their contact information for future coordination. Expand your pet-sitting opportunities by exploring other platforms in addition to THS to supplement your full-time pet-sitting endeavors. I have noticed that since the new rule came into effect the available open sits globally jumped from 6500 to almost 7000 now. I anticipate that more and more sits will get unfilled and more home owners will come here desperately looking for sitters. THS is always more open to listening to HOs, so hopefully they will demand a change or they will leave the platform in droves.

Personal questions are usually asked in a private message. I am a former sitter with membership on pause.
Then they should be clear on that and have implemented that at the same time and allow past reviews to be on both peoples accounts. On top of that it isn’t fair that we have to pay double when we aren’t using it double but overlapping a day or 2.
There also should have been SO much more notice given.
There really should be a way for the sitter to change the dates and the HO confirm the change. So many HOs don’t want to be bothered by changing dates or simply don’t know how and don’t want to learn. A simply confirm new dates that they select in their inbox, is very much NEEDED.
@lighthousekeeper - the easiest way for a sitter to change dates is to contact member services by live chat - I had to do it this week - it took 2 mins .
FYI I just tried to apply to a sit that started on the day that my previous sit ends and it blocked me from doing so. I confirmed in the with customer service afterward that it was against the new policy. She was very understanding and said that they were collating feedback about this issue, and expressed my deep concerns about the start/end dates and flexible dates.
We’ve just been invited to a sit in the SAME village in Turkey on back to back dates. Maybe 15 mins walk between the two if you tried hard….Oh no. THS says that is an impossibility and the host has had to invite us the day after. We’ll of course, simply get around it by organising our own grown up diary and arriving the day before. I think this is a logical move
However - there are some issues with the system.
I couldn’t book sits that were very interesting to me because they either started the same day I was ending a sit, or ended the same day I was starting another sit.
Support has said this isn’t supposed to happen, but it does.
In other words, I have a sit ending Nov 23rd.
In reality the last night I’ll be there is the 22nd & since this is a repeat sit, the HO has told us we can leave whenever we want to since they will be getting back late afternoon.
But I was blocked from applying for a sit that started the 23rd with the message “You’re busy…”
In reality as others have said, HO are not always accurate with their posting dates.
Clearly if I’m in Seattle on a sit that ends December 1st I can’t possibly start a sit in Miami that needs the sitter there the night of November 30th.
However, if I’m in Denver on a sit that ends at 10 a.m. on Dec 1st and a HO in Boulder needs a sitter to be there by 5 pm on Dec 1st, that’s not double-booking.
BUT many HO list a day before and the day they get back just in case a sitter wants the extra two days.
Maybe a Flex Dates system can be introduced that shows the flex dates in gray? Nov 30th in gray (optional) Dec 1st actual must be there date.
I read lots of reports now from sitters who find that the system blocks applications for the same date that a previous confirmed sit ends.
I had thought that I would do a petsitting tour of England this spring, cycling between short sits that were at most a few hours away from each other. Maybe occasionally taking my bike on a train.
That does not seem possible anymore with THS. I will have to register with a different agency.
@Carla so can you please definitively confirm if is possible to book a sit that starts on the same day as a current sit ends? You stated that it was possible when this new policy started, and now based on feedback from many members it is not possible. Which is it?

Are you suggesting you could do two sits a few hours apart at the same time because I think this rather vindicates the decision by THS?
If not, then I think your trip is possible.
@Goodboyjakey No, one sit after the other. The density of sits in the UK seemed high enough to do this by bicycle.
But with this new measure it seems that the THS system blocks that, unless one books a hotel night or a night in an Airbnb between sits.

I wonder if a HO is allowed to include an email in their listing.
Something like.
“If you think you can sit for most of these dates, please send an email. We can slightly modify our dates and send you a invite to sit through THS”
I have just tested on the app (Samsung Tablet & Samsung Phone) for dates starting the day we finish this sit and also ending the day we start out next sit and the system was happy to let me apply. I wonder if this is another of those IoS v Android glitches?
Also just tested on the website and that works fine too. So dunno - another THS programming mystery .
Did you report this to member services? I certainly hope everyone that is having the problem of not being allowed to book on the end/start dates of other sits are reporting it. This seems to me to be a MAJOR bug that needs resolution asap.
