Re-Applying for the same dates!

Hello!
I’ve run into being turned down for the sit with just the notification “Application declined” but the post is still up. Is it normal to send in a second application for the same dates? I did it once by accident because I assumed the original request never went through. If I get rejected once should I just leave it or is re-applying seen as tenacity and should continue to express interest?
Thanks,
Ericka

@Eberm, we have never re-applied for a listing. If Pet Parent had favourite, e.g. prior sitter, then they could progress without rejecting other applicants. We perceive that rejection indicates poor fit of our background/profile for their needs. But guess nothing to stop you trying.

I wouldn’t reapply, often declines don’t have a personal note. Just move on to the next one

The post is still up because they did not think the sitters that applied were a fit. So applying for the same exact dates will just get you the same exact results, declined with no explanation.

There is no reason to apply again. If the homeowner is interested, they could till get in touch if they need to. You could try writing again to let them know you are still interested and see that they are still looking, and happy to answer any questions.

I would see such a decline as not wanting me as a sitter, and that they declined me (and possibly other applicants) to get someone else.

If they had declined because they had found a sitter, I might apply later on. Have had a decline because host for instance preferred a repeat sitter, which I find understandable and not a reflection of other applicants, for instance.

For whatever reason(s), the HO’s didn’t choose you and re-applying would be a waste of your and their time. Time to move on to greener pastures for you !

I just had a similar situation; the HO did respond and said they had selected somebody else, but it still took 2-3 days for the listing to disappear. I’m guessing there’s the back-and-forth on finalizing details and the back and forth confirmations to sit, and that all takes time. We’ve also agreed to sit for another HO, but we’re not doing our virtual interview until tomorrow, so I can see how this plays out on both sides. This new HO may be declining others because we’ve agreed, but we’re both waiting for that interview to confirm, just in case.
