Read receipts

On the new THS site there is no read receipt. I have applied for sits previously and when the pet parent read the application it changed from unread to read.

You can still see this-- once a message is read, it now says ‘seen by X.’

It doesn’t show that in my inbox?
Are you a THS person?

Edited to remove another person’s personal message as per the Terms of Service.

If by 'THS person,'you mean someone that works for the site, no. I am a sitter.

I am not quite sure what you mean by it not showing in your inbox?

If you aren’t seeing the ‘seen by X’ in the message, then it hasn’t been read yet. As for unread messages, they are no longer specifically labeled as such–there is no notation of any kind underneath them.

If a host reads a message, and then replies to you, the ‘seen by X’ will no longer appear under the message you sent. It only shows up if it was the most recent in the thread. But if they are responding, then we know they obviously read the message.

And even in the old inbox (and the app as it currently is) the ‘read’ did not show up under messages once they were replied to.

So like the old inbox, you can tell when messages have been read.

Hi @susiesav
Just checked my inbox and as @KC1102 said it now says 'seen by ‘homeowner name’ or is blank if they’ve not read it.

If you are using the app it just says “read” in very small letters and appears next to the last message in the conversation

App and website both show read receipts:

If you’re not seeing them, try uninstalling and reinstalling your app, if you’re using that. Otherwise, contact membership services.

Maggie, I love the way that the messages you posted by way of an example refer to (yet another) glitch in the platform

Yup, I didn’t want my hosts to be left wondering why I hadn’t appeared to have accepted their sit. I appreciate hosts who communicate promptly and I reciprocate.

Thank you so much for explanation. I think the changes seem to have confused me! After I’d applied it used to say “unread”; until, of course, they’d read it :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
Anyhow, the HO in question has just sent a message apologising for late reply, blaming having been away and no comms. For me that is a small red light so I withdraw anyway.
I find it very frustrating and rude when HO reply really late, in effect, keep you hanging on. I now ask for an approximate date by which they will choose their sitter. After all, we sitters have plans too!
I’m new to this community… I’m liking it!
