I’m loving your love for these specific biscuits, @Maggie8K and @Cuttlefish - you’ve got excellent taste!
I agree with @Cuttlefish about the dark chocolate Tunnocks tea cakes… absolutely divine!

I found the dark chocolate tea cakes during my sit in Glasgow last year. Tasty!
We are Scotland bound this weekend. Must look out for the dark chocolate Tunnocks as 2 out of the 3 of us are lovers of dark chocolate!
Whereabouts in Scotland are you headed to, @Debbie? Feel free to share your trip and any recommendations in this discussion… and share your verdict on the dark chocolate Tunnocks?
@Jenny We are looking after a very well behaved Labrador just outside Perth.
@Maggie8K - we are off to Edinburgh soon and have booked Afternoon Tea. It looks and sounds amazing.
Hope you have a terrific time!
Scotland holds a special place in my heart. Such a lovely place and lovely people.
For anyone using this thread to find recommendations, I wanted to recommend David Bann’s vegetarian restaurant in Edinburgh. My friend and I had a fantastic meal there on Sunday - it was reasonably priced and well worth a visit!
We both wanted something light, and opted for a couple of starters each.
I had a smoked cheese and asparagus tartlet, and “chips” which weren’t your usual chips… they were around the size of a quartered potato! They were perfectly cooked, seasoned with salt and rosemary, and came with a homemade apple and tomato ketchup, and sour cream with chives.
For dessert we both had orange cake, which came with a chocolate cup of orange and ginger ice cream, with a ginger snap on top.
We both had mocktails, which were virgin pear and rose mojitos.
YUM, Jenny! Glad you enjoyed and I’ll check out if or when back in Edinburgh!
@Jenny Looks great! My sister and I will be in Edinburgh in September and we are both vegetarians, we will definitely go there!
@Maggie8K Look what I found yesterday whilst in the Scottish Highlands!
It’s the first time I have ever tried the Tunnock’s Caramel Log and it was nice but I am still a big fan of the Tunnock’s dark chocolate caramel wafers, they are just so good!
Yup, I much prefer the dark chocolate wafers. But everything Tunnock’s tastes better in Scotland.
Absolutely.
On housesit earlier this year in Edinburgh (fab) then we loved a trip to restaurant https://makarsmash.com - specialist mash potato plus haggis/neeps and other lovelies. The Kelpies - The Kelpies - Wikipedia - are remarkable horse statues near Edinburgh. Falkirk Wheel - Falkirk Wheel - Wikipedia - is interesting. On nice weather days, central Edinburgh is a lovely walk.
Scotrail train between Glasgow and Edinburgh is easy and affordable.
So pleased to see you enjoying the local delicacies @Sam_F
Joy! I found these in the U.S. at the chain retailer Cost Plus World Market — dark chocolate Tunnock’s wafers and tea cakes. Funny, they had this tea towel as well. Plus, I stocked up on the old standby Hobnobs.
AFAIK, the chain never stocked the dark chocolate Tunnock’s wafers before — I had checked for them online and in person. But today, yay!
My husband had the nerve to say that we didn’t need so many. I had to remind him that when I last brought a pile of them back from the U.K., he gobbled up most of the lot while I was away on another sit.
Besides, I told him that we want them to keep selling these, so we should buy a lot and help show market demand.
For context: Cost Plus World Market is a national U.S. chain that sells loads of imported food and treats, wine, furniture, decor, housewares and more at reasonable prices.
Love this for you @Maggie8K - will you need to find a hiding place to stop your husband eating them all this time?
Tip for anyone visiting Edinburgh.
On the top floor of the Market Street Hotel (very close to Edinburgh Waverley Train Station) there is a bar called Nor’Loft which looks out over Princes Street Gardens.
Particularly nice in Winter months when then lights from the Christmas Markets light up the cityscape.
It’s also a handy place to grab a drink if you’re waiting for a train.
EDIT: corrected typo
Thanks, @jenny!
I gave my husband half of the lot to take to his man cave. The rest, I put in our pantry, so he’s on the honor system.
He’s normally pretty disciplined with food, so his gobbling up Tunnock’s highlights how irresistible they are.
Now that I know Cost Plus carries the dark chocolate version, I’m hoping they’ll be consistently findable.
