Saved Search emails and notifications arriving too late

Thanks for clarifying. I’m still confused as to why my application isn’t read yet after 4 days. Actually more disappointed. I was so excited about finally getting an application in for my desired location ( they usually go before I get an alert in this location as I’min a differenttimezone) so to have it still unread is and extra disappointment.

Timshazz, I have found not reading the applications and not responding to be pretty common, at least 50percent of the time. I give HO one week and then either write them a follow up message or withdraw the application.

I also have problems with my notifications coming through what seems to be delayed, and this combined with the 5 application rule means I can’t seem to get an application in at all at the moment. We have one sit in the pipeline but that’s because we are their regular sitter so they come direct.

Absolutely no point renewing this year at this rate unfortunately…

Hi !
I am quite new in the site and so far I noticed something not good
The app is not showing all the assignment or the web site showed different by the time I see the assignment in the app is already gone and it was in my favorite!! I do not get the notification early as to apply …
Is there a way for a Petsitter to communicate to an HO in particular which I am very interested even it is not published the addigment so as to be bare in mind or maybe to say
I am going to be in town from that week or month and maybe it interested
There are some HO which mention to contact because they do not know the dates but I can not do so ( it happen one in Carmel by the sea and Barbados )

I live in Argentina and to travel
Book flight and coordinate it is not so easy or fast as living in
Europe or America

Edited to meet posting guidelines

@Therese
I’d disagree on this point; it might be what’s supposed to happen but in reality it doesn’t.
Not long after joining the site we applied for two sits, both showing as on 4 applications (I wasn’t aware of the 5 application limit at the time). I spent ages writing our application then when I hit send I got an automated message saying something along the lines of this home owner is no longer accepting applications and my application vanished, wasn’t even saved anywhere. This happened on both occasions on the same day.
I didn’t close the window while doing the application and I would say 30 minutes between clicking apply / send elapsed.
Very frustrating to write such a thoughtful message to have it vanish into thin air.

Hi @TheNomads this may explain further, from another thread …

Hello, @Majosem16 I would like to wish you a belated welcome to the forum community.

I am sorry that you are having issues seeing the same sits on the desktop and App versions. When you search via the desktop please remember to filter the search using the ‘sort by’ filter as you can then see sits in a location under newest, recommended or distance.

All listings should be available both via the app and the website. Please feel free to direct message me any listings links that you can not find on both and I will gladly look into this further.

You can also add your THS sitters link to your forum profile and that way other forum members can give you feedback and tips.

Here is how:

This topic will also help answer your questions about contacting owners who do not currently have live dates:

Please reach out to me if you need any more help or have any more questions :grinning:

What is the point of new results matching your saved searches.the second I get this and the ho is reviewing applications.the absolute second…

We have saved searches that we receive notifications for but invariably find the owner is already reviewing applictions. Today, for instance, I clicked on the notification instantly but it was already closed to applications. Furthermore we keep receiving repeat notifications for sits that aren’t available.

I’ve saved searches for my desired areas, one which I find impossible to even apply for is Paris… as soon as I get the alert I open up and it’s gone!
Is it a case of being on the app and trying to catch it before it comes up as a notification?

@Angela_L I understand that @woowoo’s question has been merged to this thread, but do you know if there is actually a solution in the making? Cause indeed, if you wait till the notifications pop up, you’re often too late now…
Thanks!

When I wanted to sit in Mexico I could not rely on the alerts; always closed. So if you Really want to go to a popular place the only I found that works is to search every 3-4 hours, that is how I got in the first 5 applicants.

In reference to @woowoo post about Paris, could someone in technical support please check the listing in Paris that shows up all the time, as a homeowner listing, but it is actually a sitter who has mistakenly listed herself as a homeowner instead of a sitter. It’s been like that for a long time and several of us have brought it to the attention of support, but it continues to show up that way. If you search for sits in Paris, it comes up with the heading “Loving care for your home and pets”. It has no dates, but that’s because it’s not really a sit. If you read the listing, you will see that it is a sitter, not a homeowner.

I feel like this is what I am doing. I wake up around 1am Pacific Time to check for new listings in the UK. If I snooze I lose. Then throughout the day I check at least 4 times. Even with that frequency, often by the time I see a new sit posted that meets my needs, it already has 3 applications. I rush to apply, before I’ve had a chance to read the details, let alone write a thoughtful message. Th is such a great service. I trust that future changes will be helpful.

As I understood it, it is enough to click the box with the dates in time. After that one can read and consider and compose a message. That is how HOs sometimes get a few more than five applications.

Wow, if that is true, that is awesome. I swear my nerves have been a wreck lately. I will do that and see.

I have sometimes said, we may be interested in applying for your sit and will message again within the hour with our info.

That being said, we’ve been looking for a sit in Italy for September and I painstakingly went thru and favourited every Italian sit I could find that we would be interested in doing in the future. That enables us to get faster notifications than if we only use the search function because most have 5 applications before the daily search email goes out.

I also do a search for Italy every day with no criteria at all and that enables me to see any new "reviewing’ applications sits that popped up overnight but I missed because they got 5 applicants before I could be notified… I’ve taken to screenshotting them so see if I think it’s worth staying as a premium member next year or not.

@sledgejoyce Great spot, the listing has been flagged to the Membership Service team and they can contact the member and change over the membership type. Thank you for flagging this

Hi @Els and thanks for picking this up, we have passed the feedback to the Product team who will let members know of any relevant/applicable updates.

I do the same thing Kelownagurl which does enable me to see some sits in popular areas before the 5 sit limit. However there’s not much you can do if its a new listing is posted other than searching on the site multiple times and getting lucky you might do a search just after the home owner has listed their sit. I wouldn’t be paying for premium membership next next year if I were you because since the 5 applications rule it’s not worth it. If I stay with the site I’m going to drop back to the basic membership.
