I am still having problems with this. Today I got a notification about my Saved Searches and immediately opened it up. There was a longer sit I was very interested in, and they were already reviewing applications. What can be done about this??? I have the app on my phone, and this is still happening. It’s extremely frustrating.
Its a challenge when you are in a widely different time zone from your saved search. I got an alert this morning for a new sit in Bali (they are rare) and we are currently in India with only 2.5 hours time difference. I opened the listing immediately and its already on 4- If it had been appealing enough we’d have been just in time to grab that 5th spot but that’s not always the case…
That makes sense. The sit I was interested in is only a 1 hour time difference from me, and I got the alert very late about my Saved Search.
I read on one thread that if you make your saved search on the phone app you get instant notification, therefore possibly more chance to apply whereas the email alert can be delayed by some hours…
I’ve got my saved searches on my phone app, been disappointed so many times with the dreaded “reviewing applications”, hardly seems worth bothering.
I had this issue too. I made the saved search on my computer because it’s easier to do, but then only received email updates and not pop up notifications.
The forum saved the day and I deleted all my saved searches and remade them on my phone. Now I get constant pop ups, which is annoying, but also useful!
I also have gone through my favourites and un-‘favorited’ some of them and then re-‘favorited’ them on my phone so I would get pop up notifications.
The things we must do, eh?
Same here. I was getting so stressed out we’ve just made other plans that don’t involve housesitting until we get to the right timezone. I was waking up at all hours just to check notifications. Gone are the days browsing and applying for sits in far off destinations was fun.
It is incorrect that you get instant notification on your phone/app when a Saved search is listed.
I tend to search on the site from time to time and come across a listing which I have thought “I should have been alerted about this on the app” so look on the app to find it is not listed under the Saved Search. I then receive a notification much later. So - too late on many occasions to apply.
I don’t use the App, so all my favourites (which are very many) and saved searches are done on the Website. However, I keep the App open in the background on my devices and I certainly get push notifications about my favourites when they list new dates.
Not entirely sure about saved search results though. I haven’t noticed App results, only emails
I have the app on my phone & saved searches as well. But every time a new sit comes up for mexico it’s already in review when I get it sooo frustrating
I haven’t received any notification of a saved search in weeks. I thought my parameters weren’t triggering anything but when I open the search, I always see “New” or “Last Minute” so not sure what is happening.
Hi @DianaO To mention that if you saved your search on the website, you will only receive an email if there are any new listings. Do also check your spam folders as I have checked and you are correctly subscribed.
I would like to suggest that you perhaps delete one or two of your smaller saved searches created on the website, and re-create them on your App. This will give you instant notifications.
I hope this helps, and if you are still struggling, please email support@trustedhousesitters.com for our membership services to look into this further for you.
Thank you. I use the app almost exclusively. I’ll try to delete and restart to see what happens. Thanks for the tip. Merry Christmas!
Diana
I receive instant notifications through the app and they are already full at the moment of opening them.
Yes! About Mexico
How is it possible that the moment we get the alert it’s already closed for review?
How did anyone see it earlier to apply?
Please read my thread that I posted earlier advising why people can view the listing before you are alerted
Yes, I read this earlier. My question was to TH why is there any delay in receiving notifications?
Hi All,
The Saved search app notifications are sent hourly and a notification is sent if the listing has availability.
A notification can be clicked on any time after it’s received, so if you receive it i.e. at 10:00 and then click on the notification at 10:30, then if the listing only had 1 place remaining it might be under ‘reviewing applicants’ once you click on the notification.
Thanks, Ben
Wait, what? I saved the searches on my desktop and don’t get any notifications. Do you mean that I have to ALSO save the searches on my mobile app?
Yup, checked my settings, all notifications are on but never receive info on my saved searches. What about the mobile number? I am in the US and it doesn’t give me an option to enter my country code. Are mobile notifications only for the UK?
