I have a saved search for a particular region. Very few housesits ever there and I almost never get notifications, but, I just happened to see by looking at the map, which I don’t do often because it doesn’t work well – there are 4 sits. I didn’t get notification for any. I also see one that doesn’t currently need a sitter but has a review for a period when my saved search should have been active. (OK, they “might” have booked that a year ago…)
So then after looking at the map on the website and seeing there are 4 sits, I click on my saved search and… it says there are none.
What the heck?
No, I didn’t have any filters or add dates or anything. And yes, it does this on both laptop browsers and my phone.
So I figure I’m missing out on sits because for whatever reason they aren’t coming in notifications and don’t show up when I click my actual “saved search” link. ![]()
Do you have any other filters on your saved search - pets / sit duration / dates ?
That’s totally normal. When we get privately invited to apply for sits by those we’ve sat for before, they don’t appear to others, and also like you say, it could have been organised a long time ago too.
When it comes to the searches, you mention REGION, I know in the UK searching via the county name means you get less results, via town/city is best. So I’m not sure which country you’re searching for, but maybe try the town/city name rather than region.
I’m searching in a Canadian province. Putting in a specific city in the province doesn’t make any difference. Still comes up as none. But when I click the map, they show up (including in the city that showed as none on “saved search”).
@WeRPAWsome I’m not online 24/7 so it would be no use. My point is that when I run a “saved search” it says no results, but there are some when I click “view map”. So it appears to be glitched.
No filters, as stated.
You do realize that if you enable push notifications you can also receive them in real time on your smartphone?
I am not “connected” 24/7. I shut my smartphone off and go Do Things.
Wait..smartphones have an “off” button? This could be a game changer.
Just reach out to the support team, and send them screenshots so they can help fix it.
I just have to say I love your response! I wish more people would go back to “living” instead of being glued to their phones!
Perfect response ![]()

@ABGM, delighted to hear that you are exploring Canada.
Suspect that you’re seeking listings in a less popular province as there are often many listings for high population provinces. That’s great but geographies with excess demand - perhaps your target province, or regions such as Schengen - tend to have listings that quickly receive five applications.
Respect your zero notifications approach and preference for proactive clicking Saved Search to see results. But on sheer pragmatic level then this may not work well when seeking housesits in geographies with few listings, unless you happen to check Saved Searches after a listing is published.
Good luck and happy travels
@ABGM
There’s definitely a new glitch with saved searches - I have set one up for sits that have a duration of 1 month +
This has been working for months and I receive notifications of all new sits posted that are one month + ( with the exception of one sit in a U.K. town of East Grinstead which hasn’t got dates posted but comes up in the list each time -
)
Yesterday the notifications came through and it includes sits for just two days !!! I checked they don’t have other dates listed - I haven’t reported it to support yet …hoping it might be working properly today - will report back here .
This is another reason why THS support need a dedicated team to deal with tech queries promptly.
I have the same issue. I get notifications for a saved search for Gloucester MA. I open it and it only shows boston, even if I do map view. So for months I assumed nothing in Gloucester. Then I discovered if I do a new search for anywhere and select map view, there are indeed openings in Gloucester. If I search Gloucester and choose a previous saved search, I then only see Boston. So I need to delete the saved search, re-search Gloucester, then the Gloucester sits show up. So basically saving a search and requesting notifications is useless.
