Sitters applying for multiple sits at the same time

@Snowbird I was getting anxious that we weren’t getting applicants so we’ve asked family members to help out. We have chosen and we’ve had to seek other sitters. If I get last minute applicants, I will certainly consider them.

I’m very interested in @Smiley forum post. I will look it up. I’m not sure how that’s done so I may be looking for assistance.

It’s important to firstly understand that your FORUM PROFILE is different to the profile you have as a member on the main TrustedHousesitters’ website. We do not allow links to profiles or listings in forum topics or posts (see guidelines here), but you can add the link of your TrustedHousesitter website profile or house sit listing in your FORUM PROFILE. As the HO you have the luxury of reviewing 5 applicants on the first round. If you dismiss one, or one drops off, then a 6th can apply, and so forth. You may take a while to go through many applications before even starting to set up one-to-one video chats or phone calls.
As a result, several sitters are waiting to hear from you, all of whom are aware you can only choose one of them.
Sitters do the same: apply to whatever sits look attractive to them to increase the odds of securing one they like.
By the time you get around to contacting a good applicant for an interview, perhaps it’s been a couple days or a week since they applied. If you do more than one video chat, the process might take a couple weeks.
By then the applicants are feeling they’re unlikely to get the sit, and will take something else.
Long & short of it: with only 5 initial applicants? Contact the ones that look good as soon as possible. If they look good to you, they probably look good to other HOs as well.

I missed a sit the other day for Christmas/New Year, Cockapoo’s in a village only 2 away from ours and they had an AGA Maggie, you know me, I looooovvvveeee an AGA, lol, I talked to the Family about it and they said “yes Mum, apply, looks great” I went back to it the next Morning and it was gone! they said " you snooze, you loose Mum!! " lol.

As HS we apply as quickly as we can, if we think “oh yeah, that’s a great sit” HO’s need to send a quick message if they think the sitter looks like a great fit, even if they are super busy, just a quick message, I am really interested, can I touch base with you next week for a quick chat would work.
