@proflangley
How could this HO have left you a review? In your thread you started 3 days ago, you indicated that the sit didn’t start until Monday. Therefore tomorrow (maybe today in some time zones). Regardless you’ve already left per your post later in the thread. So if the sit has been cancelled, there cannot be a review. If the sit hasn’t been cancelled officially, then the HO could leave a review but not until after the sit end date has passed.
You should advise THS that no sit has or will occur.
Some folks seem to have limited self-preservation filters. They might learn only from experiencing consequences, sometimes repeatedly. Like we often see posts in the forum where it’s obvious to many of us to have avoided certain sits/hosts in the first place and yet someone didn’t and they end up with accounts of sits gone wrong.
I can’t add any more than has already been said but am interested in hearing your thoughts atpillow as so many members have given you advice.
Well that isn’t just a difficult-to-get-along-with HO, that is an example of delusional thinking.
Presumably that is also how this HO knew that the sheets weren’t washed for 10 days.
Don’t you just hate it when the dog rats you out?!

Some folks ignore red flags out of delusions they themselves have, like that they can deal with all sorts of people or “fix” them.
With sitting, people also often ignore red flags or don’t listen to their gut, because they’re fixated on a location, beautiful home or such. Then they often end up with a bad sit and bad review, as shown in many forum posts and comments, as well as Facebook and Reddit threads.
To me, if you have high standards for hosts and consistently uphold them, regardless of how nice a sit location might be or such, then you’re more likely to have great sits. By contrast, if you have to make exceptions, then you’re obviously taking greater risks of a sit gone wrong.
@ziggy I am sure you are not the only person that has happened to!
I think this story can be made into a horror movie, it freaks me out on this cold winter night, a house of horror…. yet you still want to sit for her, you are very bold
I did, and I was informed that the sit review was automatically sent. I’m putting my case forward with TH as we speak, and they want proof that the owner was there the whole time. That’s easy. They should just ask her. But if they don’t want to, I sent the transcripts of our last discussion that prove she was there.
Must be a rugby dog ![]()
It sounds like what you were informed was BS. Who told you that? Did you get a prompt to do a sit review? That should only happen after a sit has ended. Your sit was scheduled to start tomorrow (or today in some time zones). And the dates cannot have been amended unless both of you agreed in writing (on THS platform, WhatsApp, email, text, whatever). What is showing on your dashboard for this sit?
Maybe her spirit can get into the body of the dog? When you’re sitting she’s actually in the house watching you
Or
She has hidden cameras everywhere otherwise how can she know a sitter washed their bedding
No.
Too many reasons to list but this sounds like a sit from h#!ll (the real word wasn’t allowed !). I’d bow out now and wouldn’t waste a moment speaking with the sitter as the HO as given you every bit of info you need already !
Hi everyone,
Just a quick reminder to please keep this thread focused on the topic being discussed rather than on any one individual. ![]()

You know what… Considering what happened to you… I would definitely contact TrustedHousesitters about getting her review of you removed. Definitely definitely.
And like I said before, I had a really unfair review, and I just went into all the details as a response and people who look at my profile and that I sit for said that it did not affect negatively at all my profile. Because I have a lot of really good reviews, but they said that me going into my response with all these details and also just non-emotional and just kind of stating the facts. Made them feel good about me that I was a straight shooter and that this is how I deal with adversity.
But talk to TrustedHousesitters because this was a really really unusual terrible experience for you and a terrible sit and I think they might be behind you and remove her review of you.
And I think it’s really wonderful that you left a strong review of her to warn other sitters. I really really appreciate that you did that.
I would love to know why you aren’t responding to any of the responses here, @atpillow!
TH told me that, and I was surprised, because usually I do the sit review first, and I never got a prompt.
THS reps have been known to provide incorrect advice as noted in some forum threads. Not saying it happens all the time but it does occur. Up to you if you want to pursue. If I were in your place, I would want any trace of the sit that didn’t take place off my profile.
Are they not properly trained and just make things up to fob people off?
Training is highly questionable, given the many incorrect answers that have been shared in the forum (some of the answers don’t even pass a basic logic test), for example. Often, users know better.
