I did a fairly local sit not long after I started a few years ago on THS and it was amazing in terms of the amazing property and just important the cat I was looking after. The HO’s were pleased with my first sit and have asked me back repeatedly but unfortunately I’ve usually already booked sits elsewhere.
This time however I was able to do a short 5 day sit that finished last week. After 3 rough sits in a row especially the last one with the HO losing the plot it was so nice to be welcomed again in that the HO had left me food such as a steak, cold beers and wine. And a fridge of the most amazing cheeses again.
The senior cat seemed to remember me and was soon by me or on me purring or snoring!
I got the most amazing thank you message post sit and an equally amazing review.
Just what I needed to recenter and remember there are more honest and welcoming HO’s out there than the odd bad apple.
We love doing repeat sits as you know what to expect in the home and the pet(s). Also, if you’ve received a first good review from the homeowners you are usually guaranteed repeat good reviews. One of our first sits when joining THS was for a couple who never advertised their sit again and would only invite us. They would plan their travel around our availability and we sat for them the past seven years until sadly their dog passed away last year. We loved their home and their dog. We’ve recently also done three and four repeat sits for two other couples. We’re not always available to return due to our own personal travel but it’s always nice when we can to spend time with the pet(s) again in a familiar home.
We love return sits, they’re brilliant.
We are fully nomadic so not many opportunities for repeat sits but we have had a couple and they are fantastic. The HO know what they can expect and it is more like sitting for friends than the careful vetting we usually do to avoid bad experiences.
We have a couple of sits that we return to. One is perfect and we see it as a bit of a holiday now - comfy house, gorgeous pets (4 cats and 2 dogs but all dreamy) and the familiarity of routines etc makes it so ideal for us. The other we’ve had to sadly step back from as they got a puppy between our second and third sits and it changed the whole dynamic of the sit with their two other dogs and it became quite stressful for us, nothing we’ve experienced from sitting before. We’ve had to learn to say no to some other requests for repeat visits, that were lovely but in locations we wouldn’t plan to return to.
I have yet to meet a HO who offers a fridge of cheeses! - I’d worry nothing else would ever compare if that came our way
We’re on an absolutely ’dreamy’ sit right now and can imagine coming back multiple times - we’d even try to fit in with their dates before arranging other stuff due to the location being near to our family. In fact we’re hoping they’ll always try to invite us first before putting this sit out publicly! They have beehives and the beekeeper gave us this yesterday….so yummy on toast.
