So fascinating, I watched it about 4 times to read the info. My big question is how did you manage 215 days in the Schengen zone in a year? At least that’s the way I read it.
If you have an EU passport no problem!
@Lokstar ahhh but their name is @Oztravels so they like to travel in Oz or come from Oz? Or one of each? These are the questions that keep me up at night ![]()

@Cathie I have asked the same question in the past, now I know lol If you tap on Oztravels pic or name, it will show you there profile, residency etc .
@Cathie I just clicked on their name and see they live in Portugal so presumably have residency there. That would give them a lot of freedom in Europe ![]()
@Lokstar and @ziggy cheers guys, huh I did look at their profile but clearly I was in my stupid phase as I didn’t see the Portugal bit. Bugger I thought maybe they had solved the holy grail for travellers, and I guess in a way they have, get EU residency! Ah well after my last extended trip I’ve come to the conclusion 4 months travelling in one hit is my limit anyway so the Schengen limit will be ok, now to secure some of those Schengen sits in 2026🤞
If you ever do want an extended stay in Schengen . Check out the various facebook pages on Schengen Shuffle. A wealth of information.
@Oztravels, what a curious website. Never heard of it. Interested in new things. Do you use it to enhance identification of housesit listings (you use THS + other platforms?); to keep track of future housesits (we use calendar and iCloud+); or another reason?
Fab Schengen adventures
. Without EU passports then we “only” managed 130-140 days - in visa compliant way - in Schengen area in each of 2024 and 2025. Even still, ample time to explore.
It’s really just a “bragging rights” summary app. A reddit sub member knocked it up last year. For managing sits, like you we just use our synced calendars.
@Oztravels we have just come home after 15 months “shuffling” saw and did a lot but that was enough for us. Back in the end 2026 as our son is getting married in Scotland so we will tag on another 90 days for sure but I think that will do us for a bit. Still never say never I guess ![]()
We use flighty app for high-level adventure overview - though this does not include train journeys (quite a few). Image of our 2025 travels in Europe (also lots time in Canada) … substantially housesittting. Prior year had different theme, with extensive time in the Algarve and Madeira.
One lesson from 2025 Schengen travels is that some cities have surprisingly limited flight options, especially in off-peak season. On a few occasions we had to pivot travel/housesits plans creatively to join the dots.
An early pet parent told us about Easyjet Plus. Annual membership is not cheap but we find very overall cost effective and enhanced travel experience. We take no checked luggage on our extended months of travel.
