Those Little Irritations

I’m glad it works for you. It’s not a universal solution, though. Some people are very light sleepers and get too activated if they do anything other than rush to the loo and back into bed.
Of course, stumbling around is not helpful for getting your sleep back but it’s not always easy to change habits overnight and anticipate all possible situations. In the meantime, just venting feels good.

But first you have to find it..

The place I sat which had no sidelights or lamps also had no bedside tables. So finding a phone meant groping around on the floor. Nipping to the loo was not a simple process, torched or torchless.

Personally, I always keep my phone in the same place when I sit — next to me on a nightstand or chair. That’s because I know where it is if I need to get up for the bathroom. Or if there’s a fire, break-in, etc., I don’t want to be fumbling around, looking for it in an unfamiliar setting.

I have a motion activated night light, battery operated, I wave my arms around, or kick a leg out from under the duvet, then I can safely make my way to the loo.

Sounds good. Do you have a link to share maybe, in case other folks want to buy one, too? It’s nice that such tech is so affordable nowadays.

If it were me, I wouldn’t put up with stumbling in the dark. Not only can you get hurt, maybe break something (parts of you or maybe the host’s belongings), you might step on a pet you’re sitting or trip over them.

Motion tech generally works well nowadays. Like I have motion lights under the kitchenette cabinets in my home office. They’re magnetized and can be removed for charging. I got two sets, so one is always up, while the other charges. I found them on Amazon. They’re inexpensive and stay charged for a long time.

With my first THS sit, my host asked for feedback after. I suggested night lights, because the only bathroom was downstairs from the guest room. I figured even though I used my cell phone flashlight, the host should minimize risks with sitters in general. In the U.S., if someone gets injured in your home, you’re often legally financially responsible.

They are available on Amazon.

I did put link, but I think it led to my account!

I bought mine in a diy store

I was in a home recently where there was no toilet brush! I thought maybe it is hidden away out of sight, Nope the owner just does not believe in them, has a real aversion to them, thinks they are unhygienic, and instead uses a J Cloth, and then throws it away.

Ugh.

I just couldn’t do that.

Odd. There are toilet brushes for those kind of folks, though — it’s a wand that uses disposable scrub pads. I sat a home that had those.

On my last two sits and on the next one I asked if I could pay their regular cleaner to come just before the HOs get home, but I left the last house so clean I doubt she called her…just pocketed my cash:joy:

I check the photos of bedrooms to see if bedside lamps are there.

Sounds great. Thanks for sharing.

When the homeowner has not made any space for me to put my clothes.

There were a couple of women who had a How To Clean Your House-type TV show in the UK, back in the Pre-Wifinic age. I remember that their advice was not to have toilet brushes (unhygienic) but to don the Marigolds and use bleach and a normal scrubbing-brush. I did try it for a while, because I loathe toilet brushes, but hated the amount of bleach I was tossing out into the Environment. Ever since, I’ve been on a quest for the Least Detestable and Most Effective Toilet Brush Known To Man.

Along the way, I’ve discovered a cleaning product you can throw into the toilet bowl, which causes the water to foam up dramatically, right to the seat, like something out of a John Wyndham story. It’s great fun. But utterly useless.

Ah yes. KIM and AGGIE

Being pleasantly surprised when I read In the Welcome Guide there was housekeeping, but when I arrived for the 3 week sit verbally telling me the housekeepers weren’t coming and then their vacuum wasn’t very good

Irritated at myself about how stressed out I get when cleaning the last day before leaving a sit even though I have been cleaning throughout the sit

Oh, sorry that happened, it’s such a letdown!
We were so happy when our last HO mentioned during our video chat that she would be keeping her house cleaner’s regular schedule of every 2 weeks ( we were there for almost 6 weeks) if we were ok with that arrangement. YES! definitely OK with that! yay! lol

Me too! Oh, me too! And I don’t think there’s a shrink in the world with the patience and stamina to get to the bottom of it.

I don’t wear my walking boots very often. There: I start with a confession. But I have to, because it explains the fact that when I went to put them on last weekend, I couldn’t get my foot into one of them. This is unsurprising, because it contained a dead mouse. In quite an advanced state of putrefaction, what’s more. I don’t think I’ll ever shift that smell.

Thankyou, last feline client. You know who you are, but I will conceal your name to protect the PALPABLY GUILTY.
