@Carla@Jenny Hi everyone, a quick question here. When will THS include a “Christmas” filter in its search selections? See the attached screenshot of the generic interface taken today.
I noticed THS had a “Christmas” search button in late 2023, since there were so many last-minute sits offered over the holidays.
But what about including this search button on the main search page beginning, say, in June each year?
As many, many people have already posted on the Forum, a lot of Christmas/New Year sits are posted very early and fill up quickly. I’ve already begun seeing them.
By including this search tab by mid-year, it is a great way to connect those homeowners and sitters who plan several months in advance for this special time of year.
So…To Trusted Housesitters: Would you please consider adding a Christmas search button as early as June 1?
As you mentioned the Christmas sit button is applied during the festive season (I am not sure exactly when it appears!) However, I will let the Product Team know about your suggestion and maybe it can be a more permanent filter option throughout the year!
HS could also just create a filter (saved or not) that has dates and location set. I’m not sure why this would be prohibitive or different from a dedicated filter?
Additionally, and this may seem small to some, but a “Christmas” filter isn’t very inclusive. I get that most of existing users are coming from a given part of the world and culture right now, but I personally appreciate it when companies keep language and options ubiquitous, unless intent is actually to focus on that specific religious holiday.
@bakindoki As much as I do agree with you (we do not celebrate any specific religion), it seems clear that many do celebrate this holiday and offer sits at that time. And they begin posting them very early in the year.
Hence my inquiry about whether THS could add a search tab by mid-year, to recognize the sheer number of sits offered for this time of year and perhaps, facilitate the connection between HOs and sitters.
Instead of a christmas search option could we not just have a permanent second search type that does the same thing but allows you to select custom dates. Then it can be used all year round for whatever dates you want
The current date search gives you all listings that start and finish in the date range you select .
The christmas search gave you all listings that covered the christmas dates but could start and end on any day as long as it included christmas. It would be more useful to just have a permanent second search option where the dates you selected had to all be in the listing dates.
Is this any different to saving a search for location, date range (covering Christmas and even New Year) and pets? I already have this search set up so I get notified of new sits wighin these criteria as they are posted.
No it’s different as far as I can recall. It shows listings that cover christmas as part of their dates where the date search you have normally shows you listings that fall entirely within your date range.
Example if you select 15 December to 5 Jan and a listing is 20 December to 10 Jan it is over christmas but your search dates would exclude it as it goes past 5 Jan. So you end up having to put in a large range and get a lot of listings that stop before or start after 25 December. The christmas search will show it as it covers 25 Dec and it doesn’t care how long before or after it extends.
I would like a search that does this for all dates I enter. I want a sit for 2-3 march I can put those date sin and it will show me any listing that falls across those dates and more…
