…but finally I made it. I (we) are new to the whole system and learning and reading a lot lately. We did have our first sitters and all went good. (I was so nervous.)
We live in Alberta, Canada, and we hope to find more sitters interested in looking after our place and pets in the future…for summer or even in Alberta Winter Weather…really it is not too bad, especially when the Chinook comes in, it has some beauty and warms to it.
We are looking forward to being part of the THS Families.

Hi @Kimba where in Alberta are you? Nearer to Calgary or Edmonton … it’s a HUGE Province, isn’t it 
I lived in Edmonton, Stony Pain & Leduc … One of the things that never ceased to amaze me was the sky is SO big (sounds bizarre to say even as I’m writing) and the sun always shines, except when it’s snowing
As for winters in Alberta, I have been colder in London at 0c degrees than Edmonton at -20c because it’s a dry cold, very little humidity that’s why you can’t make snowballs 
There’s a BBC program that has just finished called “Race Across The World” 5 couples began their adventure in Vancouver (Stanley Park) and had to cross Canada to St John’s Newfoundland, with no modern technology, just a paper map and $6K … I went from Leduc, Alberta to Halifax NS by car with two children and a Springer Spaniel, does that count?
The prize was $33K Cdn … it was a great program and showed the very best of Canada, including Stampede … made me miss home.

Brilliant @Itchyfeet! We have just had a chat with a HO for a sit (we’re in KL, they’re in Turkey) and been told for the fifth time that we should apply!
HI @Itchyfeet it was such a good program and made me quite homesick, a condition I never was quite “sold on” until I left Canada, now I know it’s very real.
For anyone in this conversation who hasn’t seen the show/program … Take a look at the promo pic and the five couples who took on this challenge, based on the pic alone, left to right 1 -5 who won?

It was also great to hear that all of the groups felt that they had won.
I absolutely agree @Itchyfeet this was all about the “taking part” … not being THE winner.
You should reply! We lived in Ankara for 3.5 years and explored every inch of Turkey we could in that time. Fabulous people - the kindest and most inclusive we’ve ever met. Every day was a beautiful surprise. And I’m not exaggerating.

We’ve booked two sits in Yeşilüzümlu & one in Kalkan @jjensen for when we return from SE Asia. Love sitting in our homeland. Glad you loved your time there 
(oddly there are never Ankara sits though?)
Well then I’m preaching to the choir! Wonderful you can live there as well. We’ve been so saddened by the earthquake destruction and the hardships caused by it. We left in 2010 and we’d love to return soon. It’s been too long! Wondering why no sits in Ankara? Hmmm.
Yes, utterly heartbreaking and everyone knows someone severely impacted even though it’s a huge country as you know. There’s a magic sit that keeps appearing in Cappadocia but we are never free….now that’s one to wish for Maybe you should revisit as a sitter??
