Hi, Reaching out to the forum because I am not getting an answer from Membership Services. I accepted a last minute sit that was initially to end on July 24th but after it was confirmed, the home owner stated that he would return early on July 15th.
He has not been able to update the date change on his end and unable to speak with a representative. I have not been able to change the date so I can apply for other sits past July 15th. Does anyone have any advice on how to get this resolved?
The HO can amend the dates only if the sit has not started.
If the sit has begun, only Membership Services can amend it and will only do so if there is evidence that both sides are aware and in agreement of the date change (ie THS inbox, copies of email / WhatsApp messaging),
I will attach instructions for the HO to change as I cannot tell by your post if the sit has begun.
Thanks for your reply and info! The sit has begun and the HO states he was unable to change the sit dates and has not had any luck with customer service. He may just have to cancel our current sit.
The chat says I have to go through Membership services but I haven’t heard from them, neither has the HO. We might just have to cancel the current sit.
A cancellation on a sit that has begun is a curtailed sit. Bottom line is neither of you can do anything without Membership Services at this point.@Jenny can you assist this sitter in getting a quicker response from MS?
The issue has now been resolved. Thanks for your help and advice! Membership Services emailed me back and asked for account details and proof of communication between the sitter and HO. Hope this helps someone in the future!
Thanks for the feedback. It does help to know the process. IMHO, it is a bit frustrating too to see that, more and more often, members need the participation of a forum moderator in order to have membership service effectively dealing with their case.
You should not depend on what the chat says - the info could be obsolete or right out wrong. The quickest and the least stressful ways is to just cancel the sit.
I went through something similar. For a confirmed but not started sit, HO needs to cancel the sit, then re-list it with the real dates, and then invite you to sit for those dates. If it has started, you need THS to get involved. This took weeks to resolve in my experience, and I missed out on applying to subsequent sits as a result.
