Our third annual Impact Report is now live, and we wanted to share some of the milestones that you helped us achieve this past year.
Below, find a brief snapshot of what we accomplished together in 2025 - and be sure to head to our blog to read the full report.
For pets: We welcomed 94k+ pets into our community in 2025, and facilitated 2.6 million nights of house and pet sitting. Plus, through our partnership with Helen Woodward Animal Center, we supported their work as 12,884 shelter pets found their forever homes.
For people: We donated £40k to 13+ charities and grassroots organisations carrying out vital work, and completed a total of 766 volunteering hours. We also increased our Trusted team by 32% to meet the evolving needs of our growing global community.
For the planet: Did you know that staying in a home, instead of a hotel, short-term rental or B&B, can reduce accommodation-related emissions by up to 88% per night in the UK and 85% per night in the US? That’s because there’s no excess energy use, wasted resources, or daily linen changes in sight - just thoughtful use of what’s already there. By sharing real, lived-in homes, our members embrace a slower, more connected way to travel that supports local culture, businesses, and communities while reducing environmental harm.

@Jenny, thank you for sharing the 2025 Impact Report. Many of the metrics in the report are interesting, but a few seem striking.
A few observations
Kudos on curiosity and public transparency on numerous topics
THS has grown 16% 2024 to 2025, in regards total ‘nights of pet sitting’ (so significant rather than transformative)
2.6 million nights of pet sitting is average of over 7000 pets per night (a whole lot … relevant as only a tiny fraction, likely mostly the adverse outcomes, appear on THS Forum)
Kudos on neurodiversity in staffing. Unrelated to THS, I sit on the board of directors of a large neurological disorder charity. Purposeful. Cheering on THS related support
But one question … how does the demographic of THS staff compare to that of THS total members (Pet Parents plus Housesitters). 90% of THS staff are Millennial or Gen-Z, so it seems credibly likely that material proportion of THS have never owned a property (nevermind owned a property plus pet).
Hopefully such a young staff should surely make easy work of defining ‘recording device’ in policy ; be motivated to enhance coverage of the Sit Cancellation Insurance ; and THS staff 16 languages may help attract more pet parent members beyond in the Schengen area (or at least beyond US, UK, Canada, Australia)
“For the planet” once I started sitting while travelling this definitely became a big motivation. Not to save money, although of course it does, but because I am really opposed to the way Airbnb has hollowed out neighbourhoods and increased prices for locals all over the world. We are budget travellers so usually prefer a kitchen so to me not disrupting the local rental market is a social and moral win. Can’t make it work all the time, but I wish I could.
