I just initially got a good vibe from her and she seemed very sweet and caring, as you think most people would be on a pet sitting app. She’d also been doing almost a month sit right before mine, so I figured if someone trusted her to stay that long it was also a green flag. However, that was a cat and more outside of the city so less of an opportunity to go out and do things.
She said she worked from home so it wouldn’t be an issue to take her out for walks. But the first two days were Saturday and Sunday so I guess since she wasn’t working she figured she could go out and party instead.
Sorry for the dog to be treated that way. My last sit, they really didn’t want her walked when dark, but I get up early, didn’t want to take chances with skunks in the backyard, so I took a walk at 6 am. But the HO didn’t care, they were had ring cam and were happy I took her out on more walks than they did. And they could see how long I was out. It was an Alexa house so they knew when I let her out in the back, everything. Some people don’t like that, but I figure if they see I am taking care of their pets, I get better reviews. I think more people will get ring cams and it weeds out the bad sitters.
Wow, that is horrible. You did the right thing about getting your pets out of there and telling the sitter to leave. This is one of my nightmares about this type of arrangement.
Well looks like she left me a review which I can only imagine what it says . I’ll be leaving her one once I get back home and make sure things look okay. Just wondering how someone so neglectful doesn’t get kicked off the platform or can even leave me a review given the circumstances.
Leave an honest and factual non-emotional review, that will serve you best. Take screenshots if needed of Insta-posts or other that you might need if filing a Member dispute, as she might otherwise delete it.
I’m not sure whether you have said when you will actually be home @Talexandria so hopefully it will be within the 14 days after sit finishes which is all the time you are given to write your review. Keep it unemotional and factual. You will also have the opportunity to respond to her review if you choose to. Depending on what she writes, you can just put “Please read my review of this sitter to clarify the situation” or something similar.
Don’t be too concerned about HER review of you. Just write the FACTS in your response to her review. Don’t do the tit-for-tat thing, and don’t waste your words on whatever she says in this scenario. Just fact facts facts! No opinions, just facts.
Because believe me, a lot of sitters (like us) will see her mark, read it, and know the sitter is covering their own backs from their words, so it’s then the owners response to it that matters more to us, so don’t let your angst take over, stick to the facts, and sitters will see it for what it is. Just a very very very bad sitter. We’ve sat for quite a few, where we can tell when it’s a bad sitter, the owners are amazing.
Awful and stressful, I’m so sorry this is happening to you while you are away. I would never trust someone like that with my animal, I would want them out as soon as possible and if you have any other friend that you can trust or paid sitter I would get them in immediately. Ugh! Irresponsible sitters like that give the rest of us who really care about Animals a bad Reputation on this site.
This is awful. This kind of sitter gives THS a bad name, she needs to go. Clearly she has no real intentions of caring for your dog properly. I hope you got this resolved.
